As a kid growing up it was Paul Gascoigne and Linford Christie. As I got into my teens it was Paul Gascoigne and Darren Gough. Late teens and early twenties it was Ronnie O'Sullivan and Joe Calzaghe. It's probably still Ronnie now, but followed closely by Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins. Honourable mention for Carl Regan.
Keith Hill, of course. Okay, not really... I could think of a few, but I think I'll go with Jari Litmanen. Without him I probably wouldn't love football as much as I do now. I liked football even before his time, but I'll never forget watching him win the Champions League with Ajax nearly 20 years ago, that was something quite amazing to watch as a kid. I really started to follow football more closely after that... and somehow ended up supporting Barnsley! Too bad his career was plagued with all sorts of injuries, but I admired how he always remained a model professional despite of all the bad luck. Re: Good lad Not sure about Hero's but people I think are good sports people are: Mo Farah Jack wilshere Wayne Rooney Lewis Hamilton Alistair Cook Kevin Petersen
Are we allowed dead people? I wasn't sure. But if we are, then Ayrton Senna ties with Gazza. Sticking with Ronnie O for current sporting hero, although Tom Kennedy is pushing him close.
I was always Dalglish in my head when I was a kid playing football, great player. Neil Redfearn. Bobby Hassell. Bobby Robson RIP, since his Ipswich days. Brendan O'Connell for a season. Muhammad Ali, Nigel Benn, Ricky Hatton. Could name loads tbh, can't really choose 1.
I had a few. Not so much hero's in the literal sense but sportsmen I really admired. Muhammad Ali and the young Maradona to name just two.
I played Jon "boy" Walton at the Scarborough Classic darts a few years ago, when i was decent, Absolutely wiped the floor with me, and i was in awe at just how good he was. So probably him.
Hoddle, Cruyff and Beckenbauer for football. Derek Randall, David Gower, Ian Botham and the entire late-70s/early 80s Windies team for cricket. But even though it's a sport I know precious little about, I'd have to say all time sporting hero is Muhammed Ali.
Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini, Joey Dunlop, Ali, Bobby Doyle , Glavin , Colin Bell and Arnie Sidebottom.
