Can those who did clear summat up for me? Mate reckons Matt or Adam were asking Winnall about training, and match preparation etc. One of em asks him if Danny uses prozone or whatever to analyse the lads. Their passing, distance covered etc. Apparently Winnall said no, we don't look at what "we" do/did, but "we" do spend a lot of time analysing the opposition using stats and such and how we can them cope with them. I've no reason not to believe him, but aye, can anyone add owt to it? I'd find that very ******* strange if that's the case. No problem with us identifying areas to exploit, doing our homework etc. But surely you'd analyse your own players and what they can bring to the table, no? Or are we just going off what's seen/done on the training field? I reckon if I had access to prozone (it's not cheap) I'd notice the fact we never win second balls around our own box, and that at set pieces we can't mark up. Sad thing is, it's our most experienced player dropping a bollock most the time.
Having just dropped down a division and being amongst one of the bigger teams in the division before the season started l'd kind of hoped we wouldn't be sh*tting ourselves and worrying about the opposition and focusing more on ourselves. I wonder if Nigel Clough will be analysing Fleetwood at home in a few weeks time and thinking "ohh l wonder where they can hurt us" or will he be thinking "4-3-3, three strikers on the bench - we'll smash these bast*rds".
Whitey, I can confirm the comments of your mate as correct. Nothing to add really, other than I share with you that focussing on our own players performance levels at this time than the daunting threats posed by third tier household names of Fleetwood and Crawley should be valuable to the manager. Btw, I enjoyed the pre-match build up with Sam and Matt, and the subsequent 8 mins until "Get-in". After that, c'était une bonne nuit de moi.....!!
Winnall said something about there being loads of technology and statistics on the opposition available and that they have a meeting about it the day before the game...or summat.
Definitely had it when Hill and then Flitcroft were here as they referred to it in almost every interview. Can't see it being so prohibitively expensive that relegation meant we couldn't afford it. Wilson is old-school, probably doesn't know what to do with Pro Zone...he's got a Nokia 3310 that he charges up once a week. His high score on snake is 814.
I don't think there is any problem with us analysing the opposition wheter its Manchester United or Chester (no joke intended). In fact i'd say it is arrogant to think we don't need to as its only Fleetwood. Find it very strange that we don't analyze our own performances though. Maybe the experienced pros know what they need to do, but you would have thought the younger lads would get huge benefits from watching their own performances back and see what they did right/wrong.
Whitey, I spoke to Chris o'Grady last season and he told me the same. All focus is on what the opposition can do and how to contain them. He also said the players were concerned that they had no idea as to what style they were supposed to play
If he did say that it was probably preceded by "I was gonna say..." Listening to commentary yesterday and Peter Ramage was mentioned causing the good lady wife (who was only half listening) to pipe up with "Peter Rabbit?" Oh how we laughed.
