Hmm so in 1 years time then

In all fairness once you have agreed to the use of speed cameras (which personally I still have something of a problem with but letting that pass) sticking a bright yellow camera on the approach to a school where there is a history of people speeding past isnt actually a bad idea, To wait until someone is killed doesnt make sense.

Painting it Grey and hiding is is ridiculous though - that is revenue generation rather than improving safety.

    The solution is simple

Keep to the speed limit and there isn't a problem.

............Or buy the AA Great Britain Road Map that lists EVERY speed camera in the country.

It is an essential piece of literature for every driver.

How many motorists can honestly say they never speed?

unless you drive round continually watching the speedo (and so not paying full attention to your surroundings)

Also in many places (outside built up areas) unnecessarily low limits are being imposed.

Many of the roads near me now have 40mph limits on them through miles of open countriside - it is an artificial limit which causes more danger as its hard to concentrate driving unnecessarily slowly.

If we are going to have speed cameras surely they should be put in places where speeding is dangerous and be visible. - If their purpose is to increase safety that is.

Of course motorists are an easy target so putting artificially low limits in the countriside and hiding cameras to fine them for breaking the law is just fine.

Not that we aren't taxed enough anyway - 67p out of a 90p litre of fuel is Tax!

Oh and by the way I try not to speed in built up areas

I disagree that its revenue generation and not safety by making them camouflaged.

If you make them obvious to see then the temptation is for people to break as soon as they see them and then speed up once past them. If they aren't so easy to see then it encourages you not to go over the speed limit all the time.

I don't recall you getting slagged off

I recall people discussing the pros and cons about such a move

Agreed... painting them yellow is ridiculous. If you speed, be prepared to accept the fine and the points on your licence... simple.
