WHO SAYS BRITS ARE'NT WINNERS?

    Chris Harris of Coventry Bees became the first brit to win a speedway Grand Prix for seven years tonight at the Millenium stadium,Cardiff........effing brilliant racing...and a truly nice guy! only his fifth GP.

    Talking of speedway, i used to go down and watch the Sheffield Tigers when i was a snip of a lad. One of the blokes that attends to the bikes went out with a cousin of mine and invited me down one evening. I used to love the smell of the petrol etc in the pits :eek:

    I still go to Sheff,you liked the smell of methanol...speedway is a great summer sport....and only half the price of Oakwell.

    How they doing these days. When i used to go i think Belle Vue Aces were one of the top sides with Ivan Mauger one of their stars - i could well have spelt that wrong. All the internationals/ test matches were sponsored by Durex too

    God you are goin back a bit....Mauger left Belle vue about 1973ish.....Sheffield Tigers are in the premier league(2nd div/championship in football terms) but top of the league at the moment. any barnsley fans at a loose end in the summer might enjoy a night at the speedway.Some barnsley fans go its not all deedahs honest¬thursday night 7-45pm

    A couple of months ago they had ametting where everyone got in free....packed out the m25 was a right fookin mess(but then whats new)LOL....Its great for kids coz they only get about a thousand and its not all seating so the kids can roam and not get fidgety(is that a word ?)

    I used to watch Wombwell on a Wednesday and Sheffield Tigers on a Thurs. Riding for Wobwell, Harwood Pike, Jeff Bishop, Harry Modrall, Tuplin. For Tigers, Tommy and Guy Allot, Bruce Semmens, Len & Stan Williams. Happy days.
