I remember futcher doing one against carlisle (or maybe west brom)...

basically, he tried a controlling pass back to the keeper (on the volley too), clive baker could do nowt but watch it fly past him

ok maybe I exagerated, but would have been a decent goal if it were t'other way round

    In the early sixties

a right back called Allan Hopper was top scorer until about Christmas one year - cos he'd notched three own goals! :D

Shame such a great header was in the wrong net.

    Not oakwell, but

can't remember his name (game was somthing like norwich and brighton in early 80's) definate norwich though,

corner came in and defender did a absolute corker of a diving header into his own net.

Erm good try but nowhere near

Moses was sat in the changing rooms when Newcastle knocked us out of the cup because shearer had got him sent off.

Leeds away in the league, 2-0. Hristov sent off for dissent too

Well if we're widening the net

a guy called Sandy Jackson, playing for Everton, once scored a spectacular diving headed own goal - playing against Liverpool !!

I made my debut for the local football team, I came on as sub made a pass back to goalie hit post, hit me and went in. I got an early shower.

    oops, yeah it was.

I did know that actually because I knew it was moses' own goal that lost us the game (thus the mentioning of him not being on the pitch when the final goal went in against newcastle.

no idea why I put 2-1 lol.

it was georgi who got our goal wasnt it, just before half time?

    Yep

Hristov notched, before getting himself booked twice in the last minute IIRC

But either way the oggie was a screamer.

    Best I remember was V Oldham (1992/3?)
Corner came in Steve Cooper jumps (Too Early) and Milligan? Firmly plants a header past his own keeper in the opposite corner.
    :D

Giving rise to the term "Futcherism"

    I give you Paul Futcher

A slide rule backpass at the ponty when baker was off his line. Hit at just enough pace from 20 yds to roll and nestle low into the corner, agonisingly just out of bakers despairing dive.

He once scores a looping header past baker from the edge of the box.

    Both in the ponte end

Another not at oakwell but got to be the best ever. Chris Brass a couple of seasons ago. Ball came across goal he got his foot under it and connected well to clear it. The ball flew up hit him in the face and bounced into the goal. Absolute corker.

Got to be Ron Futcher's own goal, like someone has already said. Chipped clive baker from around 30 yards, never saw oakwell so gob smacked. Goal of the season if it wasn't in his own net.

That was against QPR and it never crossed the line.

How the lino could claim to see the ball through Morgans body as he slid in to clear it I'll never know.
