Incase you're serious.. 16 years old when he broke through at Southampton. 10 starts and 5 goals I think? Not sure though. Signed for Arsenal in a £12m deal, hasn't made an appearance for them but has scored bagfuls in their reserves. Thats good enough for a World Cup place.
And yes, his main asset is his pace.. which I have to admit is unbelievable - saw a few of his championship goals and he'd be up there with Henry for pace.
Just checked him out So we're taking 4 forwards, 2 are injured (one of which is definitely out), a 17 year old who has 4 career goals, no caps and no premiership games to his name and Peter Crouch. YAY!
Just what I said, here... http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=30661&posts=4 ff
im excited about a young, talented, untried 17 year old playing for us in the world cup. Be better than watching Crouch trying to head a ball. One things for sure, he'll scare the **** out of defenders with his pace. Secret weapon.
doin his gcse's this time last summer brilliant stuff. the world cup is made for these type of situations
Eriksson is unreal! How the hell can he choose Walcott over the likes of Defoe and Bent? The kid hasn't played a single game of top flight football, hes going to be playing against the WORLDS ELITE! Not some no mark from Millwall. I hope the lad does a great job out there, but the decision in my opinion is completely unjustified.
what's price got to do with it They've bought him but they've never played him. I don't think he's actually a football player. I think he's a painting by Monet currently hanging in Wenger's office.
RE: what's price got to do with it He's hardly likely to get in the side above Henry, Bergkamp, Van Persie is he. His price suggests that he is an exceptional talent. Few are better judges of talent than Arsene Wenger. I'm not sure if I'd have included him personally but clearly Sven is looking for a wildcard. Bent/Defoe were unlikely to feature in his plans so why not take the youngster with lightening pace to ruffle a few feathers.
