I do, then we could move Crainie into midfield where he is best suited IMHO. Darren O'dea is free and looking for a club since leaving Metalurh Donetsk in the Ukraine.
How would Cranie fit in to midfield? If play 4-4-2 best CM pairing have got to be Bailey and Hourihane Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If Danny is planning on bringing any players into the club then we need a right back and a Target Man.
How would we fit Bailey,Hourihane,Abbott,Digby and then Cranie into a midfield? Would make zero sense dropping Bailey/Abbott for Cranie in mid
We've Big ******* Jean and Big Young ******* Jack in reserve. We're reight at centre half. Don't see us signing a target man either, unless he's got no reputation. We've four strikers now who will all want to start. Keeping them happy/involved etc is enough of a headache. So if we do bring in a big man, it'll be a nomad like Haber was, or another youngster like Cole but without the repute. I'd like a right back in though, and possibly another midfielder with bite.
[I'd like a right back in though, and possibly another midfielder with bite.[/QUOTE] Exactly my thoughts - present midfield too lightweight...will need a tough guy in there at times this season.
No. Cranie looks as good a centre half as there is in this division to me. And better than a number of central defenders in the division above. I think he's put in some great performances already. Hourihane is getting the plaudits, and he deserves them, but Cranie is playing just as well imho. Wouldn't dream of moving him from centre half. Nyatanga is starting to impress too. In reserve we have M'Voto, while Brown looks to have the build to do a very good job there too, should it be required. Maybe another right back, unless Wilson feels Bree is capable of a run of games, should Brown become injured. Although the transfer window is closed, so I don't think I'd bother with a right back on loan just for cover. Maybe get one in should Brown become unavailable. I'm not desperate for us to bring anyone in, unless Wilson is certain they'll be an improvement. Don't believe we'll find a centre half willing to come to us who is an improvement on Cranie. If we can, I'd play him at the side of Cranie not move Cranie to a different position.
Won't that be Digby, if the game requires it? I know he's only young, but he's a reight size, if he tackles you, you'll stay tackled.
Definitely don't want to see Cranie in midfield as that'll mean one of him or Bailey won't be playing & they're probably 2 of the best 4 or 5 players at the club
Should play Mvoto in my opinion cos all the free headers we r giving teams from set pieces and corners will eventually start to be costly for us in this league
I don't think it's a priority, no and I certainly don't believe it'd benefit the team to move Cranie from defence and into midfield. We have cover at the back should either Cranie or Nyatanga pick up an injury, suspension or loss of form. He CAN play in midfield, but I'm unsure whose form has been so poor that they warrant dropping from that area of the pitch to accommodate him. I know I'm a fan of Cranie, but I honestly believe after Hourihane he's been our best player this season. I'd much rather be patient, allow this squad & team to develop and keep any monies we have available for strengthening held back for the time being.
