First off, Danny Wilson........NO! Lets leave the past in the past. Neil Warnock and Ian Holloway will 100% NOT come to us, first off Warnock has retired, and Holloway wants a break out of the game. So realistically, who do we go for? A few names i can think of (not all of them i agree with): Michael Appleton Dean Saunders Tony Mowbray Steve Cotterill Gary Megson Kevin Blackwell Bobby Hassell? Micky Mellon Alex Macleish Forget the likes of Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Solskjaer, Mike Phelan etc. Just not going to happen!
There is only one name it should be, for me. I'd want the board to move heaven and hell to get him. We've some talented kids, I can't think of too many people who would instil It may not work out for him, I'm sure he won't have the success he did first time around, but the fans need some form of hope. History tends to lend itself to a known figure, someone familiar to a fan base. Some people may give him stick for leaving to get a bumper pay day at Wednesday and if anyone wants to criticise him for taking a job at the blunts, that's their choice. It's the right time. We badly need something to believe in.
Tony Mowbray is the best manager on that list. But I would like to see Danny Wilson back, its either Wilson or some headline grabbing name to try and get the fans back - to lose in that manner infront of 10,000 home fans, 2,000 of which will not return was a disaster.
Ian Holloway would be my choice at the moment, I think he would just about be in reach but probably knows a top-end Championship job is likely to become available in the next few months.
We don't need water turning into wine, just someone who can organise and not pick Dawson and Kennedy.
Wouldn't be my first choice but Gary Megson would be a decent shout - treated a bit harshly by Wednesday but has a lot of experience. Would certainly give me more optimism than a lower league manager or, god forbid, a former player with no experience.
We haven't got time for that, we need someone to come in and work with what he has got until the end of the season.
Danny has a great track record with Bristol, Swindon, Hartlepool etc. And why aren't any of those names going to happen? There's a lot or negativity on here at the moment.
Not my first choice either but we have to be realistic, a lot of the more desirable candidates can afford to wait around for a bigger club. With the chairman's Man Utd history it wouldn't surprise me if someone with past connections to them takes over. Or Micky Mellon could win six games on the bounce, keep us up, then do terribly and his assistant can take over this time next year!
Why only till the end of the season, give someone a proper shot and if we go down, we go down. The only reason why i'd sack a manager again this season, is if there's no improvement whatsoever and we're down by March.
