There's only only way to find out ...... *ahem* ... forgive my Harry Hill interjection, the depths of ITV world cup coverage is affecting my mental health already!

Clint Marcelle - by an absolute country mile. I used to joke about it, but "he could pass the ball to himself 50 yards away". AND he did actually do that a couple of times as well.

Who was our last genuinely quick laiker?

I mean, proper quick, not Hammill/Vaz Te/Haynes quick, but lightning quick.

Thanks woolley. You remember him with the same fondness as I do then, an absolute legend in our house, still talk about him. Got his autograph the week after they got promoted to the Prem down at Oakwell. A really quietly spoken, nice guy.

Absolutely blistering pace and skilful with it. Not sure about the "nice guy" bit as I never met him but once saw him in hedonism night club in VIP lounge and he was a proper slime ball around all the women in there, not knocking it like.

He was a right player. On and off the pitch. The birds loved his yank accent.

Bullock was faster, but, he could never run in a straight line, so over 20m Marcelle would win due to Bullock running 37m and beating 3 bystanders.

Bullock was a poor mans Ronaldo. He would beat 3 or 4 defenders with several step overs thrown in and was a joy to watch but that final ball let him down 9 times out of 10...

Ah but when he picked the ball up, you stood up because you had a good idea he was going to do something special.

Definitely, there was anticipation when he got the ball and ran at players.

If he had mastered that final ball I don't think he would have stayed with us very long and would have been playing at the top level. As you say every time he got the ball you thought "this is the 1" but sadly it rarely was.
