surely the biggest loss for us currently and despite recent poor form the biggest plus of the managers tenure.
He was a young player that had impressed in occasional starts and coming on as a sub and then was given starts the last 8 games of the season.
He was as talented then as he is now. But I think KK saw more in him than MR, and built a team around him, and gave him license to thrill in a floating role. Wheras MR used him mainly as a sub due to 'percieved' stamina issues, or stuck him out wide as he persevered with Colace, Arismendi, Halfredsson, Anderson and Lovre et al - foreign rubbish for the majority of their respective time here. Expensive foreign rubbish at that. I think MR must take some credit though as he began to select Jake quite regular towards the end of his tenure, and in a central role. Bristol at home 12 months ago was a good indicator as to what was to come as Mellis and Butterfield ran the show ala Drinkwater and Butterfield this term. And while KK may have seen more in Jake than MR ever did, it was Robins who saw a helluva lot more in RNL than Keith has thus far - disappointed at his continual ignorance in favour of Dagnall and Nouble etc
Think all 3 of the last managers have known what they have had and brought him along steadily. Robins would have had him starting this season thats why he advised him to go to Ingles gym in Sheffield to increase his strength and stamina levels which were a bit suspect at the end of last season. Hill started him this season and was subbing him for the first month (poor performances or energy levels?)until he started scoring and then it was a wise move to let him see out the 90 mins. Shame we only got the lad coming into his prime and making himself a regular for such a short period.
