LDRed's "favourite BFC away shirt" thread reminded me of some of my favourite players from years past, and made me look up what they're upto nowadays... I started following the Reds during the Premiership season, and even though we had some more obvious heroes at the time, it was Martin Bullock who was my favourite player in the 97/98 squad. Young Tomi also used to have this poster hanging on the wall, which immortalised Bullock's hero status for me... (click to enlarge the image) I was gutted when Bullock left us for Blackpool in 2001, but it was a good decision for him since he wasn't a first team regular for us anymore. He only retired from football last year, having played for the top NZ team Waitakere United for a few seasons and winning the NZ championship twice. Apparently he's now enjoying his life in Waitakere with his wife and two daughters, and running his own lawn mowing franchise. http://www.waitakereunited.co.nz/140612.html
That's Mr LDRed to you As for hero's... Has to be Redfearn and Hignett for me. Too old to idolise footballers these days, it's just wrong!
For some bizarre reason i thought Mick Clarke was fantastic (shaking my head at a foolish 7 year old me).
Don't mean to be an arse, but we had this very question just a week ago. http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?191201-Who-was-your-first-Barnsley-hero
