He's a little bit hot-headed for that job I think - I could be wrong, but I wonder if the extra responsibility will dilute his enthusiasm for the tackle. If he was ten years older then maybe, but not yet. Ramage a certainty for me, provided he is here and playing
My main problem with Nyatanga over the years is he is a confidence player. When he is good he is excellent, but when he has a bad day he is woeful. This is not ideal, but OK for a midfielder or forward, but for a centre back you need a level of consistency. This usually comes with age. I think Nyatanga would thrive as captain and the reponsability would actually mean a lot to him. We could do a lot worse.
It's a tough one to ask because we don't know the personnel yet but Scowen would be a good choice I think. He's been our most consistent player since he's been here and it might convince him to stay a little longer. Super Sammy wouldn't be a bad choice as he would constantly lead by example but I don't particularly like the idea of a striker being captain. Nyatanga or Ramage would be fine too.
I think it'll be a new signing. I don't believe we have a natural captain contracted to the club. I don't see Nyatanga as any more of a leader than Cranie but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets it if Johnson wants to give it to an existing player rather than a new signing
Don't be surprised if we bring in an old head to sit in midfield and just generally be a bit of a git. If/when we do it'll probably be him.
