    The DVLA says...

    "Minimum ages for driving
At 21 - buses, large lorries with or without trailer, large road rollers and tracked vehicles.
Large motorcycles (unless meeting two year qualifying period earlier)."

so he could have taken his class 1 then? still his employers (taxpayers as he works for the council) have paid for all his lessons and tests and all they wanted was for him to get his class 2.

Maybe you have to pass Class 2 before attempting Class 1? I'm not up on the rules and regs for the lorry licences.

i think thats it, anyway its still a good thing to have i wish id taken mine years ago but it costs a fortune if you have to pay for it yourself. i dont even get my overalls or safety boots bought by my employer the tight *******.

Isn't there a law that says the employer has to provide the employee with adequate safety equipment? I.e. boots, overalls, safety goggles, etc.

You should look into it, I'll find out what it's called.

I think so, yeah. Just sorting through my papers now, there's a few laws that I can think of.

there is a law but when a apprentice kept being warned about going on site in his trainers our gaffer gave him somebody elses old boots that were 2 sizes too big, and the ******* as got away with it for years, he must be a millionaire too, ive only worked for him for 18 months but apparantly its only in the last couple of years that he stopped making people travel to jobs in the back of vans without seats. it makes me sick the way robbing ******** like him make a fortune. also any broken ladders etc that we chuck in the skip he repairs in a fashion, we have got loads of pairs of wooden steps that have been repaired with nails and a ladder thats been cut down and one leg is longer than the other, in fact one pair of steps broke when i stood on them.

RE: Time to work at Ventura methinks

Ventura you are joking id have to put my hand up every time i need a piss and get the minutes spent knocked of my lunch time,

The other thing is each time we go onto a new site we have to have an induction on health and safety but he still gets away with using broken equipment, he must be greasing a few palms like he does to get most of the contracts to start with.
