Just watched Flickers post match interview on BP and he's very honest - he's hurting as much as us I'm sure of that. He's talking about tough decisions and players not stepping up over the course of the season so far.... who's he talking about? From our squad and the games I've seen or heard so far this season I'm speculating: Kennedy, Wiseman, Dagnall, Jennings, Mellis From their absence I'm speculating that the following are not showing enough to warrant a first team slot: Nyatanga, McNulty, Cofie Inconsistent performers: JoB, Mvoto, Dawson, Perkins Then there's the ones we're all confused about: Sir Bobby, Digby, Rose Above > just my opinion.... anyone else?
I think he there is the obvious few tht he's talking about. But to be honest I think he needs to look at the players he's picking on a regular basis and seem to have a starting place week in week out without fail like kelvin Dawson and Perkins.
Two names straight off - Dawson and Perkins. The pair of them are totally bereft of any footballing ability and running around like a nutcase is not an adequate substitute.
Was out with a leeds fan on friday, he and everyone of his scum mates can't believe Perkins is still with us. called him the best player he's seen over the last few seasons. The lad can play no doubt, but his confidence has been hit by how we're playing.
My good friend, taking today's game into consideration I shall tell thee. Kennedy was shocking. He stood there and watched the guy he was supposedly marking score the second goal, after running past him like he wasn't there. The third goal was scored by the player I was stood up screaming at Ramage to mark. He didn't. Apart from them, Dawson was ruddy awful. Again. Maybe I'm being mean to Ramage, as it's the first time I've seen him (although he really did look like McNulty today, so lets he some improvement is coming), but Kennedy and Dawson were rubbish and rightly subbed. Apart from them, players who I think are good enough played poorly today. Wiseman, Perkins and Etuhu were poor. As usual though Chris O'Grady was great. He takes so much hammer from opposition defences and rarely has anything to show for it.
IMHO, the weak link at the moment isn't the players, it's the formation of the team and the position in that formation of the individual players. For example, Dawson looked awful today, but he's not that bad a player. I've seen him have some excellent games for us. He's not a right winger and if we continue to play him there he'll continue to look poor and we'll continue to lose matches.
The manager. Any championship player would struggle when being played out of position and asked to link up with another player who is playing out of position
I think most the players a capable to compete at the level if played in their correct positions in the correct formation. The main person not looking championship quality at the moment is flicker with his strange ideas
Most of the players looked like championship players last season - what I can say is that thats only true for some of them when played in the right place - and with a supportive formation First half poor formation Playing Dawson - a defensive midfielder playing on the right wing is the best example but there are others I thought 2nd half we upped the tempo played some players in the right place and actually looked half decent
I thought Paddy McCourt was a positive today, looked comfortable on the ball, and was confident to demand the ball even when marked. He actually took players on and beat them.
Seriously? Thought he looked ponderous and totally off the pace of the game and not really the kind of player that 's going to improve matters...
