Thought it was about time we looked to the postive rather than always asking who's the worse.....
I wasnt around to see Glavin in his hayday, but I think my earliest memory is seein a very young David Hirst score!!
I know he didnt stop long and he had his problems with the beer and injuries later in his career but as a young lad back then he looked special... a proper goal scorer!!!

    So What do you think????

Tough...I've seen a few good strikers I reckon...I always liked Rammell and Payton when I first started going (granted I can barely remember them - except they seemed to score a fair few), then of course Super John - he was class - of course Ashley Ward was quality. I also really rated Shipperley, and although he was infuriating, I always rated Dyer.

But the best I'd say was probably Ward for all round ability

Ward was a good player for the club... Im probably just being a bit romantic when I say Hirst, he was the first person I saw score for Us when I was a youngster, thats probably why he sticks in the memory!!!!!!!!

Hirst was indeed the best young player ever. Remember it was between him and Shearer as to who replaced Lineker up front for England. He was in pole position and played the first half, had a stinker. Shearer came on for the second half and the rest is history as they say. Still, no-one else reached those levels, not Ward or Hendrie. I'd rate Hendrie in his prime, before he came to us, as thesecond best player.

Anybody who says anything other than Ashley Ward

Is either under 12 years old or completely retarded.
