Its getting tedious now, fed up of hearing the 2 words \"Davey Out\". He doesnt deserve to get the Sack, we are club with one of the lowest budgets inthe league, therefore, we are in a position where we are expected to be, Most Barnsley fans are expecting too much from the team, and the ambition some of the fans have is ludicrous(sp) Why sack him now, no one better is available, Ince took a Prem Job and did **** all, he gotMK Dons promoted, but anyone could have done that with the team they had I know Davey wasn\'t everyones first choice, but he has done brilliant for us, ifwe had stuck with Ritchie, i do feel that we would have been relegated I beleive we have the right man in Simon Davey.
My guess would be that it's due to the poor performances, the fact that we have lost half of our games, score less than one goal per game and are facing another relegation battle Just a guess like
You say we have a small budget? You trying saying that to the likes of Charlton, Southampton, Norwich, Blackpool, Plymouth, Doncaster, Sheffield Wednesday and maybe even Preston. The fact is, is that we have a fairly decent sized budget compared to those teams and for us to be in this position is piss poor as far as i'm concerned.
The Davey dilemma is a difficult one to call. He seems tactically naive at times and stubborn. It's questionable whether he can motivate the team on a consistent basis. Yet on the other hand, I feel there are not a great deal of managers about who could get the quality of player Davey signs more often than not on such a low budget. The frustrating thing is that with the sqaud we now have (which to be fair, Davey has assembled), we should be higher up the table and that's why ultimately, the finger keeps being pointed at Davey.
In my lifetime we spent a few odd years in 'League One' besides that we been in top 2 divisions. So those older than me that go on about being there in days of Div4 in front of 1000 fans -why do they compalin. We are in the CHAMPIONSHIP with a town of 100k people with 5 cities within an hour's drive. Sorry mate - some folk are never happy. I'm just lucky I can see big teams at Oakwell at week, unlike Bradford who played Aldershot yesterday, 8 years ago 6 leagues apart
Not according to official stats. Only Doncaster out of those teams mentioned have a budget similar to ours. These stats for all Championship teams were on here a few days back if anyone cares to find them.
There are a hundreds of towns bigger thanus without a team, and further away than an hour from the Man U, Liverpool, Leeds etc all massive clubs. Point being we survive in a big boys league - where most teams get big financial backing yet we don't. I hate the fact we 21st but I'm sure we will gewt out of it and I hope that some day VERY SOON, someone comes in to support Patrick Cryne with some money.
Plymouth splashed out on there record signing in the summer, 750k. The guy who kicked out at Anderson at Oakwell, Simon Walton was it? I think Blackpool's record transfer is about 300k and sames goes with Doncaster. Southampton and Charlton can't afford to splash out now because they have increasing amounts of debt, i think Norwich could be getting into the same situation. Watford are in the **** with money too, so i'm sorry but if your telling me the likes of Plymouth and Blackpool have bigger budgets than us then i think your 'stats' may well be wrong.
There are a number of issues here chris, first, no one would argue we are a club with one of the smallest budgets and if one is being honest, Davey has done well to bring in the quality we are currently experiencing. But, would you like to inform us, in Davey's defence, why the **** we are so low in the table, why our away record is so abhorrent and why his tacticle skills are abysmal ? Last but not least, provide us with a reason to continue with his services if we are to experience this charade next season?
I agree with Baskerville Hes tactically inept... he shouldnt be as niave after 18months managing Barnsley now... our goal per game ratio is worse than last season.. and hes took the club as further forward as possible
That is exactly why they are all in trouble. Because they have been using a bigger budget that they can't afford anymore but are stuck with. On player wages we will be one of the lowest in the league.
he cant even hide behind the fa cup this year although how many seasons did Danny take to get it right? Id give him until xmas next year to get us into a top 10 spot. His inability to put together consistency is shocking. I was only on about it the other day and lodgy also reported it in the chron. Its like he picks and choses his matches to concentrate on. Last year was the cup and the teams around us. This year its the local derbies. I peronally feel hes over egged the foreign influence and lost the balance. Also - hes over complicating matters and playing people out of position too often. he is also subject to some panic buys and loans. Look at rigters for example. I know we need some consistency but its only a matter of time until he blows it big style and we go down. He is getting trained up at our expense at the mo.
