It amazes me that the club can so easily fool the fans on here. We sign a good player in Hammil and suddenly everyone forgets the tactical naivety , lack of motivation and inability to change his ways and LJ is given another chance. The board are manipulating the fans and the fickle fans here now think that LJs ability is suddenly gone from being P..s poor to brilliant in a real world you could not make this up..

You are fooling and amazing only yourself, by virtue of your obviously low opinion of your fellow Reds fan, if you think they think that one flying Hammill makes a summer.

We aren't. You most of us a massive disservice. What we have is blind optimism.

Even if you don't think LJ is the right man, surely you still want folk to attend, and for us to win every game?

I am strictly in the don't really care either way at the moment category but I can actually understand why somebody would want us to lose and to have a low attendance of they feel it will force the boards hand. Sacrificing a win today for what they feel will be more wins in the future.

Doesn't mean I necessarily agree with it but I do understand the thinking

Well I'm not going tonight. Its the first game I've missed purely through choice for as long as I can remember.

I've literally missed a handful of home games in the last 20 seasons, and that includes cup ties of all types, testimonials, friendlies, you name it. I've gone on record as saying I'll be with them for as long as health permits, whatever division they happen to be in - even if that means outside the League. And I stand by that.

But I'm not happy right now and I need them to know that, and the most effective way I can do that is simply not attend. They can massage league gates by including bums not on seats, but tonight they can't. I'm itching to put my coat on even now and run down Oakwell Lane but for once I'm standing my ground.

When people like me aren't arsed they really have a problem.

Maybe some of us don't get aroused by negativity and understand how bad it is still but like to look at positives, which getting Hammill in certainly is.

No one knows whether Hammill will be any good or not. We all know that he was a good player but the game has moved on and his career has been in decline since those days. He has been signed on a short term contract and must prove himself, or he will be moving on again in January. The actions that the club has taken in the last week are no more than a sticking plaster. I would hope that the club is preparing a list of players that they will attempt to sign in the January transfer window, when many of our current loan players will return to their clubs. The fact that fees had been agreed for Smith and Wilkinson suggests that money is available when these two go back to their clubs.

Most fans can see what the plans are. It amazes me that some do not.

Is Hammill only signed til January then? Only seen 'short term' mentioned, could mean end of season or 1 month.

Yes, that is the way I see things. We are desperately short of quality in certain positions, no matter what team structure we use. That can only be remedied by finding better quality.

I know that we made a mess of the last transfer window, but there is nothing that we can do about that now. We must not make any mistakes in the next window, because if we get it right, we have a springboard for the following season and the fans will clamber onto the bus (sorry mixed metaphors) . If we get it wrong again, then it is curtains.

The January window is that important.

The fact that fees were agreed for Wilkinson and Smith suggests that the plan is to sign them. On the basis that LJ should be here for ever should'nt we be more patient with Smith and Wilko?

The most important thing is to get a competent manager. Onwards and upwards then.

Knowing our excellent form with transfers it wouldn't surprise me if they were already done deals that we can't pull out of.

    Imagine that for a minute....

Ha Ha 3 year contracts for both of em. I don't think I'm much of a fan of long term plans.

Clearly barnsley winning a game has upset some, but don't worry, i'm sure another defeat wont be too far away. Then folk can crack on with the club bashing again.
