we do not know what is going on behind the scenes maybe Chops is on holiday with Pat Cryne in Portugal
I'd rather something be going on behind the scenes than seeing a load of conjecture in the press every two mins.
Me too, but In an interview with Chopra in the Chron he says Barnsley have not made an enquiry so he can't speak to them.
Patience, it's only two weeks since the final.
If you were doing some complex negotiations would you shout it out to the world and his wife ?

Mr. Shepherd said on the radio that We wont be talking to Chopra because hes stii under contract at Newcastle, sometimes i think we are too nice a club.
RE: Mr. Shepherd said on the radio that thought you could speak to a player in the last 6 months of his contract anyway without permission from his club
Birmingham and Palace in for him. He's expected to cost them £500,000 as Newcastle want to cash in before he becomes a free agent. I don't think he'll end up at Barnsley (feel free to prove me wrong).
Article from Newcastle Evening Chronicle re: Chopra Two more join battle for Chops Jun 7 2006 By Alan Oliver, The Evening Chronicle Newcastle United striker Michael Chopra has suddenly found himself very much in demand. For after agreeing a three-year deal with Cardiff City at the end of last week, Chopra now finds that both Birmingham City and Crystal Palace are ready to pay United £500,000 for his services. As a result, at the moment the only certain thing appears to be that the 22-year-old striker will leave St James' Park when his contract runs out at the end of the month. And this even though a lot of Chopra's friends and colleagues are advising him to take up the offer of another 12 months with United. But Chopra obviously does not see much of a future at St James', even though Alan Shearer has retired and, at this moment in time, Glenn Roeder finds himself a bit short as far as attacking options are concerned. Chopra is free to leave without United's permission at the end of the month and Freddy Shepherd would rather agree a fee for the striker than let the Independent Tribunal sort out the compensation. Birmingham's Geordie boss Steve Bruce is in the process of selling his former England striker Emile Heskey to Fulham, and sees Chopra as the ideal replacement. And Palace, with £8.5m in the bank after Andy Johnson's transfer to Everton, believe that Chopra could fill the pacey striker's boots. In the meantime, Palace chairman Simon Johnson met Graeme Souness in Marbella last night to discuss the prospect of the former United boss taking over at Selhurst Park. Despite talk of Albert Luque going back to Spain and Lee Bowyer returning to West Ham, United say that there are actually no bids on the table at St James' Park for any of their players. But it would not surprise me if Amady Faye returned to Portsmouth to get the ball rolling.
Tyre kicking. He knows we want him and, before he signs for anyone, he'll know what we're willing to pay. It's a bit nerve racking for us but I guess it's a good way to negotiate.
