it wasn't a new one before the playoffs...it would never have time to bed in properly.

it takes weeks for the turf to settle...that's why they are doing it early so it's ready for the new season.

 

They dont use turf, it costs too much to returf. The top layer of grass and soil are taken off then new reinforced soil is put back in, its then levelled off and seeds which give tough reistant grass

 

In about 2 weeks the pitch will be nearly full of grass again weather permitting
