I can't understand why important news such as signings is not put on the main site. Shoddy, if you ask me.

Very, but isn't that how the upper echelons of the club do their business. Big secret, and then behold some other club comes and snatches them away, or they can't be arsed to sign. :)

    is davey still on holday?

If he is then it could be because it would be embarrassing for the club to announce a player that we have signed and have to explain that the manager is in another country on a beach somewhere.

That depends on who you listen to I guess. For example last season depending on who you listened to the signing of mcindoe was 100% solely down to the chairman, was down to the chairman and scout or was down to Ritchie.

Maybe the news page is saving room for another "we're going to west brom again" feature?

    I'd imagine...

The club are set to announce a few new signings together rather than them one by one, though you'd think it could at least be announced.

I don't think it's 'shoddy journalism' or whatever people are saying - the club will have a reason for it, I'm sure it's not down to being lazy!

    I see it like this

The job of a scout is to identify players to the management who the scout feels could improve the team.

Sometimes scouts are sent by the manager to have a better look at players during a competative game.

Sometimes a scout may identify a player for the manager to watch etc.

The manager then says to his chairman I want that player and then its up to the chairman / directors to try and negotiate the signing.

The manager (I think) has little to do with the negotiations other than perhaps the deciding how much of his budget he is prepared to spend on any one particular player.

Therefore if the manager is on holiday it does not stop players signing.

My guess is it will be anounced with a couple of other signings or anouncements maybe timed to coincide with when most season ticket renewals have landed on doormatsa dn maybe when the manager is back.

Unfortunately for us, last year our manager had to come

back from holiday to persuade some of the out of contract players to re-sign. e.g. Colgan, Shuker.

That's before we got on to new players.
