Having switched my US trip and going to Chicago instead of New Orleans, I've been trying to get tickets for the American Football in Chicago (against Minnesota) having already had one for New Orleans.
Checking on Ticketmaster and all but the very top price tickets ($330!) are sold out - however via the official club website is a link to Stubhub where fans with season tickets can sell on individual match tickets for games they can't get to or don't want to go to. It's all above board, ticket prices are advertised at a rate put up by the seller - yes they make a profit but they aren't ripping people off, just a reasonable going rate, you book them online (or in case of no US address phone them and they take details of your hotel) and then the tickets are sent by Fed Ex, Stubhub add 10% booking on top.
    Excellent service - I paid $110 for a $75 ticket.

Of course it wouldn't work at Oakwell unless you posted up for less than face value.

    the problem with that is...............

......it's logical. Logic and, dare I say this, England as a whole just do not seem to mix that well, let alone with BFC!

Marketing ideas, logic, bums on seats and all the gubbins that goes with it are, to be frank, non-bloody-existant.

    There. My little rant over.

    And OOB.

    One major difference...

Their tickets are probably in demand!

Plenty of spare seats at Oakwell...

But I'm not just meaning BArnsley games - Man Utd, England etc - basically any sporting event - or for that matter any event, you can get concert tickets etc on their as well.
Cracking idea, unfortunately it's deemed illegal here to sell on a ticket even if it's just because you can't use it.

Man Utd tickets on sale on a Barnsley forum?

Clubshop boy would be in his element!!

It is a good idea, IF it was legal.

Just not a good idea for a team like Barnsley who don't even fill 50% of the stadium.

    Sorry, you misunderstand me

When I said "why cant we do it here" I meant in this country rather than on this website.

I meant generally as a concept rather than for Barnsley tickets

    Ah, OK. Sorry!

    Good idea, yeah.

But as we've already established, the law is the stumbling block!!

I suppose a website could be set up, but if found out, the creators would surely face prosecution? As would all the buyers and sellers?

Not sure really - they said they'd had a bit of a storm or something, a few tiles blown off the roof and some drains are blocked up.

selling tickets for sporting events in the uk is illegal

i think. selling concert tix or ok so long as you state face value, but im pretty sure selling tickts for footy matches is not - because of segregation issues.

RE: selling tickets for sporting events in the uk is illegal

That's what I was saying would be the problem. Thing is that something like this could help get rid of touts at sporting events, concerts etc.
As to the face value - they have a disclaimer saying that the tickets you are buying may be above face value. In the case of sporting events it's easy to check online what price a ticket is in that section normally.
The website charge the buyer 10% commission of which a quarter of that is passed back to the club - in cases where they've signed a deal with the club. Was reading how the guy who set it up got the idea and now has Ticketmaster trying to get in on the act. Apparently they sold tickets worth $60m last year.
I like how they guarantee the sale as well, the seller keeps hold of the ticket, once you make the purchase Stubhub send a FedEx mailing label to the seller who sends on the ticket. Stubhub track the package and only when it's delivered do they release the funds to the seller. If the tickets aren't delivered Stubhub will buy equivalent tickets and charge the seller for them.
My only concern is that the hotel don't decide to nick the package! But I phoned them up and told them I was expecting one delivered before I checked in and they said it was no problem for them to hold it til I arrived.

Wouldn't mind trying to set something like that it here but I bet it's a legal minefield.
