Why can't we play with two out and out wingers?

Over the last few games we have had to play with three players in central midfield, you can't blame Davey totally because teams have over run us
with 4-4-2 but moving JCR into midfield is such a waste of a very good winger. I think part of the blame is to do with the strkers not holding the ball
enough and not making the runs to create a pass for midfielders to make. Another reason is that teams have seen our weak points and put 3 in midfield
and played through or down our left side which is our weak part of our defence.
If this continues we must sign another centre midfielder with a bit of steele in him and use Jcr where he is most effective, I think we need one anyway
for cover if De silva or Colace are injured leon just ain't good enough. Davey needs to make his mind up how where going to play so we buy the right
players in January and not mess about buying players to sit on the bench.

I think our problem is that in the last 2 years

Simon Davey has completly failed to buld a midfield that has adequate cover, instead he has concentrated on signing 16 right backs and 173 strikers

Definitely need cover for Anderson and Colace. I think Leon is a very good player on the ball but very lightweight going into the tackle and we need someone with a bit of grit about them who aint scared of getting stuck in for the cause. JCR is a waste in the midfield and needs to be either an attacking left or right winger in my opinion where he scares the defence and can either whip a cross in or take a man on which he is good at.

I can't see what Leon gives to team, he only shows up for about 10 to 20 minutes a game and when the going get tough he may as well not be on
    the pitch.

In principle I tend to agree. But who up front us big enough to win headers? Only Odejayi IMO, but he's deemed by most not to be good enough. Even though Devaney's crosses have improved a bit over recent times, I don't think half a dozen crosses a season is gonna make that much of a difference tbh.

We've already got "cover" for Anderson

    It's competition we need.

Also, Brian Howard hasn't yet been sold, whatever anyone one on here says.

Finally, SD has added yet ANOTHER striker to his squad. How many does he need in the team (or no the bench for that matter)?

Leon is brilliant on the ball when he has time and space.

Unfortunately, in this division, you have very little time and space on the ball. When he's challenged by an opponent, he simply falls over. He's just not strong enough. If he was 6ft3 with 14 stone behind him, he would be worth about £50 million.

I don't think a big target man is what we need, look at Patterson at Burnley he runs along the line and into the corners but keeps hold of the ball
our strikers just let the ball come straight back most of the time. We need someone who is going to look to score at every sniff of the goal.

    Who is cover for Anderson?

Davey may need to sign another 50 strikers the way he's going to find the right ones.

JCR has been fine at CM

There is also Diego Leon (and Hassell has played there b4, as we all know). That's FIVE in total.

It's not ideal, but it is "cover". I'm not sure what else SD can do (having just shelled out for ANOTHER striker).

We've arguably got less players available in Central Defence....

I would prefer Hassell in there instead of JCR and let JCR have a free role to move from one wing to the other if thats the way where going to play.
But your right Davey can't do anything until he gets rid of players in January or next summer.

Well, Devaney is going to missing for quite a while.

Any idea what is happening with Whaley? He is due to return to Preston (unless I missed something).

From what I've seen of Whaley, he has a good cross on him but the rest of his game is questionable. He would have to
show up a lot more if I were the manager but you get the feeling Davey likes him. He wants to stay I think.
