I've nver understood this. Bloc Party's 1st album was awesome, yet their 2nd album is way short of average. Why do bands struggle to release decent material the 2nd time around?
RE: because they believ their own hype and think any old crap will sell. or they think a good 1st album gives them a licence to be more creative/experimental. or they've just run out of ideas and are not as good as people think. see Kaiser Chiefs, Franz ferdinand, Strokes, the thrills, zutons etc etc
The first album can be years in the making A band can spend years playing pubs and clubs, honing their sound, writing then disregarding songs until they've got a quality set of 10 or 11 songs written from the heart. The second album is banged out in a few months with the only the thought of cashing in on the success fuelling the creative juices.
RE: The first album can be years in the making That can work the other way two. A band could have 10 years to create 25 decent songs. 2 albums
all your life to to write your first album 12 months to write your second ! plus the weight of expectation is usually greater if the first album received plenty of hype...
One thing you fail to point out is: I'd like to shoot my filthy load all over the breasts of that bird out of the Zutons. Just thought you'd like to know.
Bit like sex with bird syndrome. One night stand is great, but revisiting the scene of the crime............ Unless she either makes a great breakfast, shows no sign of emotional attachment, or shows you a positive test result, in which case the normal rules change.
FAO scruffy tyke...kaisers second album isnt out yet... neither is the zutons... kaisers first was s**t so im not holding out much on their new one anyway! i'm a fan of bloc partys new album think its alot different to the first one buy little man tates album its brilliant!!!
RE: FAO scruffy tyke...kaisers second album isnt out yet... Zutons 2nd albums been out about 10 months or so.
Little Man Tate? The two songs I have heard so far have been identical!
I hope for their sake all the tracks aren't identical.
