Play that black and white scrolling thing in top left corner before adverts? Always seen it never understood why?
its there so you know adverts are coming on. if you want a pee or a drink you only have 30 seconds to wait.
Yeah but back when I used to watch TV it was worth knowing whether they were likely to be coming up soon or not. I used to like it (but then I was a kid).
Cue markers for adverts. The program will be aired across various TV regions and the advertising most often are different. It's a queue to that TV (region) broadcaster to cue their adverts.
It comes up to go to your regions specific channel.....like Calender o region specific adverts. Boring but true
So does somebody in the control rooms have to stare at the top corner of the screen looking for the marker? I've heard they do (or used to) have a dot in the top corner of the screen at the cinema too for the projectionist to change the reel every fifteen minutes or so but that that one was only on screen for a tenth of a second. How can anyone possibly see that every time?
It might be automated Watch any old ITV program n it comes up where you'ld expect an advert....it was simply the system switching from national to regional mode.
It seems tame these days but back in the early / mid 80's before the Internet it was brilliant for a teenager.
Me too. More often than not it was a lesson in disappointment but one that served me well in later life.
