Why do people insist on breaking the law by smoking in toilets in stadiums?

I needed the bog at half time on Saturday but got within a yard of the entrance and nearly choked on the smoke.

It's thoroughly disgusting in such a confined space where there's no ventilation.

It's all me, me, me isn't it? As long as these folk (of which some may read this of course) have their half time ***, **** everyone else including young children of just 4-5 years old who have to inhale mountains of smoke.

    Really really annoying.

I was caught up in the ticket **** up. Would not like to think what would happen if that stand caught fire with too many bums for seats up the top of it.

The lad in front of me was smoking while in his seat.

There were a group of lads together tho and kept altering their seats so not sure if he continued throughout the match. I'd forgot how nice it was not to breathe in 2nd hand smoke at footy grounds.

Have to agree, disgusting and completely unnecessary. Even heavy smokers could go two hours without a ***, the stewards should have done something. Journo, did you come back to your seat after your visit to the toilet and tell your mate about it the first thing you did before you sat down?

No change there then... After last years memorable victory over the pigs at swills borough I vowed not to return to the **** hole until it was made safe. Iwrote to the FA to health and safety and didn`t recieve a reply from either.. Having lived through Bradfords disaster (we have friends who died there) To finding the potential that that kind of disaster could happen again its scary..It took my son and I the best part of the break to move from seat..to toilet and ...back again.. not to mention the time it took to get out of the stadium once the game had finished.....disgrace Sheffield Wednesday.. /poo /poo /poo /poo

    Agree.

I complained to the two police men stood outside the mens' bogs last year and they said they couldn't do anything as it may cause trouble; I said but it's against the law and I resent my health being put at risk. They just shrugged...so next time I get a speeding fine, I'll ignore it too then? Agree also about the crush when leaving, it's a complete nightmare health and safety wise.

    For God Sake!

If the police went in the bog and said right your all nicked, it would all kick off they're right. Anyway it's not for the police to deal with. Look it is wrong for people to smoke in the bogs. It is safety risk. However you are never going to stop people smoking at footy. Best thing to do is have a safe smoking area at the back of the stand.

It is out dated to smoke whilst watching the match. I have fond memories of being stood on the terrace and the smell of pipe smoke when I was a kid. I know second hand smoke is a health risk, but you lot don't half sound wet when your 'it's a threat to my health, it's my rights, the police are too interested in giving me a speeding fine etc etc'. Come on.

whilst I much prefer pubs now they are smoke free I tend to agree with papa.

some places you go you expect to find people smoking.

Pubs, works vans and probably football grounds are a few of the I feel it is acceptable.

I also think regardless there should be an exemption on the smoking ban for anyone on the front two rows who are over 60 and with one of them pipes that sherlock homes smokes.

Oh, and all police are tw@ts

Whats the point behind that question

Its perfectly legal to have a pint before entering a football stadium, just illegal to drink it in sight of the pitch.
Also provided you arent drunk and disorderly (which is an offence anyway) it doesnt affect other fans

its illegal to smoke inside a football stadium both due to the fire risk and the antisocial effects on other fans.

Personally I wouldnt object to an open air area between the stands being availlable to smokers but that isnt currently the law.

People smoking inside the bogs are just selfish and dont care about the effects on others

There were loads of people smoking in the open air area between the Ponty and the West Stand at the Man City game. I assumed that was allowed, but I guess technically as its inside the ground it's illegal?

    RE: For God Sake!

I would like to take my 3 year old daughter to matches and strongly object to her and myself breathing in smoke fumes; passive smoking- especially with the fumes as strong as they are in such a confined space has a definite link to cancer. Why, when follwing my team should I be subjected to passive smoking?? Maybe if the police actually carried out the letter of the law, the idiots would stop, or do only some laws apply?

    RE: For God Sake!

I don't think the police deal with smoking in the ground. And if so I think it's dealt with by ejection. Think it might be up to the club to fine. I'm unsure about it.

What do you want to take your 3 year old daughter away for. I have a daughter and was talking about this at the weekend. Hillsboro at the weekend was not a place for kids under five. Goin to oakwell is not to bad and there are family areas. Prob with going away is everyone is mixed up and it not a family atmosphere. Not really a place for young kids.

The bloke who sits behind me at Barnsley takes 3 kids under 10. I feel for the bloke coz they moan, fall
asleep and appear that they don't wanna be there.

I suppose I went from being 5 though.
