Pronounce Qatar as catarrh? It is nowhere close to the pronunciation. Also, why do these same reporters call engines, trains; talk with people rather that to theme can. Etc.

Is that not just the English pronunciation of Qatar in the way that l'angleterre is nowhere near the correct pronunciation of England. If the entire nation pronounces a country as catarr then surely that is the correct pronunciation in that language?

I thought it was just that annoying Kay Burley who pronounced it like that, "Cat Arrrr" for me.

She says lorries instead of trucks as well, weird, and says hi-ya instead of hello, that one really does my head in.

You should try some of the US news stations - tend to pronounce it as cutter or even gutter!

I was over there when the World Cup hosts were announced and I didn't even know what they were talking about until I saw it written on screen!

It's polite to say that you "spoke with" rather than "spoke to", "with" implies a conversation rather than one person just talking.
