Why do players wear gloves

With short sleeved shirts?

Is it only their hands that get cold?

 

They have very hairy arms and bare hands

I get odd looks when walking to work as I wear no sleeves and have gloves on

My arms don't feel the cold, but my hands do.

I once knew somebody who had a real foot on the end of a wooden leg.

when the body temperature drops the brain kicks in and reduces blood flow to the extremeties to try and keep the core warm-hence cold fingers and toes-first things to get frostbite due to minimal circulation-it's very sensible to wear gloves when it is cold particularly if you are susceptible

 

Did it not go a bit rank after a few weeks?

Specially in the summer. The flies would start to be a problem

you lose most heat through your head, but I dont see em wearing woolly hats.
