When he's got to fight for his place in the team is when we see the best of him, some players need competition to bring the best out of their game.
Davey is building a decent squad and no player should be guaranteed their place, if Devaney up's his game because we have signed Hammill then all
    the better for the club.

don't want rid. happy to see him play if we don't have another winger. frustrated me all first half. didn't beat his man once and gave ball away nearly every time

i hope he does, ive been a big fan of disco since league one n on his day can put in some really good perforances, but end of day hes a professional so he should be giving his all every game i know some players have off days but with disco he sometimes only has 1 good game every 5-6 games and its not good enough if we want to have a good season

I'm a fan of his as he's been with us since the League 1 day's, but he frustrates the hell out of me!

He can have some cracking games now and then, but that'll be followed up by a shocker. There's more shockers too.

I'd keep him for a squad player and provides competition to others but he isn't going to start infront of a fit Hammill, JCR, Hallfredsson.

But if his performances warrant his place why shouldn't he be in starting 11.

I agree... But he was awful on Sat and doesn't warrant a starting shirt. His only contribution was the cross for Butterfield's goal.

    I don't want rid but.....

he should be kept as a squad player. He's not good enough to be a regular for us though. He simply cannot beat a man. One thing I have taken notice of though. When he puts a deep cross in, it's usually a quality ball he puts in. When he crosses from the byline it usually goes straight into the stand. And when he tries to beat a man.... quite simply... he can't.</p>

So, Martin. Cross from deep on a regular basis - ie against Liverpool, Chelsea and Sheff Wednesday and we shall reap the rewards. Ignore this advice at your peril :)

I would hope he were competition more for the centre positions where we need it rather than the left wing.

Normally when Devaney plays his only contribution is a cross for a goal, its a bit like a striker that has a stinker but bangs in the winner.

    I have always rated Devaney

Always gives 100% even when not playing well.

Plus his missus made us all a drink of tea when we worked near his house back in January & let me just say what a rasper

i've defended devaney a couple of times on this board when some blinkered pillocks been on his case, but i watched him against frickley city n wendys and he dint beat a man all the game in either,he needs to stop attempting to beat anyone at all and just whip it into the box a la rnl v ferncvs
