Why do we have a reserves ?

 

millions every year for what tho`. It is an expensive thing to run.

I think many people are including the facilities in with it but that is also used by the senior players

Yeh, but since then the Academy staff has been cut back.</p>

When Mark Smith was here we had Walker, Wagstaff and Widdowson all working with the kids and we had U17 and U19 squads.</p>

But if our turnover is in the order of 6m I doubt the acadamy costs millions altogether let alone its cost above a standard reserves / youth set up.

The FA send me Job vacancies so I do have a good idea on how much Academy coaches and directors are paid.

So we made a good saving then.

I doubt it ever cost anywhere near 1m running costs nt

It depends on the actual Job and the Club.</p>

I have seen Academy directors jobs advertised as low 22k for a non league Club.</p>

30-35 k is a common figure for Pro Clubs.

Remember that there are Academies in FE Colleges. Where I taught the Coaches are paid between 20-34k.</p>

A friend of mine Coached at the Piggies and was on a 5 hour &pound;25 an hour contract a couple of years ago.</p>
