to praise davey for sticking with players that aren't good enough when they slated previous managers for doing the same thing? KO isn't good enough and scoring two last night doesn't change that. So why does Davey stick with him? Is it cause he believes all the crap he keeps telling everyine about KO being raw talent or is it that he just doesn't like admitting he is wrong and having seemingly done that with Mostto this season he won't do it again and so we are stuck with someone who 99% couldn't score in an open net instead of giving the likes of Coulson and Christenson a run out and seeing if they can do any better.
So you are criticising the manager for sticking with a player that scored 2 goals last night, regardless of your opinion on the player, the manager's decision paid off and we won.
RE: So you are criticising the manager This time but how many of the other 40ish games that he has been involved in has it payed off? Two thats all. Who is to say that Culson or Christenson wouldn't have scored more? In my opinion he should have given one of them a proper chance instead of sticking with someone that just can't cut it. To answer your question properly no i am criticising the manger alone i am pointing out how people on here have a short memory when last season they (and myself included) were unhappy at Richie sticking with buys that weren't performing but this season it is fine for Davey to do teh exact same thing.
RE: So you are criticising the manager No, people have criticised Davey just as they did Ritchie. However, the manager makes the decisions and it was shown to be the right one last night.
I suppose even though KO isn't a young un there is potential there that can be developed and that's what Davey sees. I do some coaching (not football) and we've 2 players relatively new to the sport one 17 one 30 both have come on brilliantly this season. We just wish the older player had had the opportunity of proper development training 12-15 years ago - if so a chance of national squad would have been on the cards. raw talent maybe but it needs to be developed quickly
RE: So you are criticising the manager read the threads below people are praising davey for sticking with KO
Yes But many of these are people who wanted him dropped. What they are saying is that Davey ignored the clamour and showed he's his own man, rather than making the easy decision to placate the fans, in doing so his faith in KO was repaid.
I ubderstand the idea of raw talent and it doesn't matter how old you are if you are new to a sport but KO has been playing for years he can no longer be considered raw talent he has been playing a number of years and while yes he can mature into a better player to describe him as raw talent is laughable he might get better but not alot while last year he looked good at cheltenham this year he just doesn't cut it against championship defenses.
This point doesnt make sense " while last year he looked good at cheltenham this year he just doesn't cut it against championship defenses" He creates the chances, so he is looking good against championship defences. His problem has been finishing which doesnt matter which league or defence he is playing against he has already beaten them
RE: This point doesnt make sense But if he's beaten the defence and created a chance, but squanders it (as on Sunday), it's more down to composure - so it's more psychological. Stress relaxing and relaxation techniques could help him with that.
RE: This point doesnt make sense i kind of get your point, wasnt havíng a go. Just when I think about it it doesnt make sense. Its not like he's really worked the keeper and ben denied by great saves. or that everything happens quicker, he had an age at Wembley Maybe its he had more chances at Cheltenham or perhaps its a pressure and confidence thing
