Why does everyone think Mounir El Haimour is a left back?

Simon Davey certainly doesn't think so:

"It is another big deal for this Club and we are delighted to have brought him here. Mounir is a player who will be comfortable as a left winger or wing back. He will add a dynamic option on the left hand side to complement what we had last season on the opposite flank".

    Why do you assume that?

It says he's a left winger or wing back. It says nothing about him being a left back.

We've signed Hugo Roberto Colace as a midfielder.

So I assume we'll be playing him in goal.

I thought it was just me

I've assumed he's a left winger who can fill in at left wing back, if needed. It wouldn't be the first time I've read things wrong, though!

    No! Absolutely not!

Werling was a left back. I know everyone thought he'd be great in midfield, but he never played there. He was a left back. This new guy is a left midfielder and now everyone is assuming he'll play left back. It's bonkers.

you are right of course, but what I meant was...

Like many others I though Werling would have been better used as a left wing back or left sided midfield player, in the position where this new guy allegedly plays.

Anyway, while we are on the subject, what is the difference between a left sided midfield player and a left winger?

I'd laugh my tits off if this guy lined up at left back against QPR :D :D

I think he is a left back because

    that's where he normally plays.

You ought to tell Simon Davey that as he thinks he's bought a midfielder.

He's been playing defence for the last couple of seasons.

You should have a word with Simon Davey as he thinks he's bought a midfielder.

    RE: Like I said

To be fair we have only read an interview. When SD said wing back he might have meant full back. Maybe the lad can play anywhere up the left.
