Ran into the crowd apparantly. Ref should have used a bit of sense - big game and all that. Then again the ref was a jobsworth. Think he was gutted because he misses the game next week - fifth booking.
I must say , though It's great to see a player with so much enthusiasm for Barnsley Football Club that HASN'T come up through the ranks . He plays as if he's Barnsley born and bred !
RE: I must say , though Pity the FA deem it necessary to bring these rules in when there are other pressing matters - like players faking injuries and falling over at the drop of a hat
He.... had to be booked because its in the rules. he should have known about the rule and not complain about being booked. players every week now get booked for doing the same. its a rule for a reason because dumb ass fans come over wanting to touch the player in question and someone could get trampled on or squashed etc.
If Brian Howard and Steve McPhail Keep up that level of performance for the remaining matches , we'll be going up no problem . Howard's reaction to scoring was perfectly understandable , but the attitude of the referee summed up the approach his profession seem to have these days . We certainly don't want any passion in the game like that , do we ? Pity he wasn't as keen to show his authority when it came to giving a penalty !!!(
I don't think it's entirely like that... I think they showed the rules on Sky when Robben got sent off for something similar. I think they say the referee has to use his initiative to decide whether a booking is necessary or not.
RE: If Brian Howard and Steve McPhail Its amazing that he got booked.. when their player( who was already on a yellow) got away with a blatant body check... should have been sent off and I think thats what Parkinson thought because he took him off straight away.
that was incredible to book wright for "persistent foul play" as well for a few innoculous challenges. their full back should have walked , how the hell it wasn't a booking a don't know - he would have booked him if he wasn't already on a card.
did he actually run into the crowd, I thought it was just down in the corner. Calendar didn't show it fully so I couldn't tell
No he didn't run into the crowd, he was just to my right he did leave the pitch though, which is bookable with out the refs permission. I think it was was our fans running to him that got him booked. I was surprised none of them were thrown out.
It was a very harsh booking though there were no Colchester fans within 110 yards of him. Ref must have had game down as a draw on his coupon. Why else did he play so much extra time?
throwing some lads out for celebrating? christ, it would have been a discgrace if that happened! thats what its all about, emotions running high and all that. it was a great moment - not seen the crowd so excited about a goal since rankins that kept us up.
I know it was only the excitement of scoring a goal but the fans went over the wall onto the red shale and that isn't allowed.
I wasn't advocating that the lads should have been thrown out. Three of them were lads who Iv'e coached and they are some of the coolest guys around. They just got a bit excited like we all did.
