Anyone know whether there is a consensus that: A - He's got the hang of managing at last ( cos prior to this latest stint his c.v. would not warm the cockles ) B - He inherited good players (either coming through or already there) C - Someone else has been helping him D - He's had a bit of cash to spend E - There is another plausible explanation (e.g. Scottish football below Celtic is so crap that anyone could make a fist of managing there) Any offers?
Did well at Coventry & Motherwell previously. Took over an already relegated club in Brentford and left Sunderland in the same position he joined them. We're Barnsley not Barca we aren't going to get anyone with a record equal to Peps. That's my answer to A anyway.
My only concern with Butcher is why is he in exile up in the woods. Their football up there is not top class. On the plus side he is a fighter. On the down side he is probably not up to speed with championship sides. My other concern is that our players are going to have to probably make a big change in playing style and we may not have time to do that. On the plus side he has two lads up there who are both in double figures with goal tally, he knows them and may be something could be done on that side.
Depends how you look at it, its not the strongest league in Europe by any means but then to get a club the size of ICT to where they are in it is still a great achievement.
I think Butcher might be a motivational force that keeps us up, but I would forget about pretty football. I can't see him being a master tactician a purveyor of the beautiful game. It'll get a bit exciting if we make a fight of it but I would expect a lot a rudimentary result-getting football and a lot of draws.
He`s won games and put points on the board. Some clubs just suit some people, players, managers, fans although we have some of them thats at the wrong club some think. Innit togever.
ICT are playing "winning" football and that is exactly the type of footballl I like to watch. Tippy-tappy posession football coupled with numerous defensive errors is not only garbage to watch, it also puts you bottom of league. At the moment Butcher is doing agreat job at ICT, he will be full of confidence and I hope can motivate the team into some quick wins/points. I am very positive about this managerial appointment............YOU REDZ !!!!!
Funny you should say that, as I've asked an avid ICT fan on Twitter who says they play fast attacking football on the floor.
He'll be able to tell defenders where to stand at corner kicks....that worth a dozen points a season to start wi...
Reality is that any manager that we're currently able to attract, will have question marks. That's just the way it is. I just want someone in the seat now. Whoever it is, will get my support. Every day passed, is a day lost in the transfer window. 6 players off the books as it stands, and i'm expecting to see equal numbers come in before the window shuts.
Their goals conceded isn't fantastic to be honest. But he should command huge respect from the players, for what he's achieved in the game.
Inverness are one of the top scoring sides this season and that's what we have obv been lacking. And actually Inverness under butcher play some nice stuff go on YouTube and look at the highlights
One of their games Dundee united away Inverness were 3-0 after 15 mins Inverness at one point were winning 4-3 the game ended 4-4
