He'll be kicing himself if he lets him get away. Is £600k really all that much for a starting championship midfielder?
he shouldn't muck about - bid £600k and have done with it. if that is rejeted then at least we went for it.
Why bid 600k when Rangers have stated they only want 500k for him? Jesus, your 2 would never make Businessmen (doh).
somtimes you have to go the extra mile if you really want him. plus thy're are other clubs interested with more money than us.
RE: somtimes you have to go the extra mile if you really want him. Exactly, we don't want to be paying over the odds for a player because we don't have the spending power of some clubs in this league. Hopefully get him for 500k, and then the 100k could be used on the CB from Wolves who's surely surplus to requirements? - Darren Ward.
RE: somtimes you have to go the extra mile if you really want him. They may have said 500k but we know there are lots of clubs after him and going 100k over is a strong offer, and if rejected we know where we stand, and as for a good businessman, Ive done really well so far with my business thanks so I do know about offering to stop the competition from gazumping you at the final hurdle
It'll end up with us getting nobody and then rushing around at the last minute picking up bargains from some Egyptian 2nd division side. **** me i'm getting disillusioned already
Apparently he looked at a few players in the South Africa v NZ game!!! knowing Davey it will be Jeremy Christie, Leo Bertos and Mulligan!!!!!!
You should win the enterprise award on Calendar From 1986.
If somebody says they want 500k for a player that is all that every club interested will bid as the maximum.
It will then be up to the player to choose who they want to sign for.
Bidding 600K when for instance Reading have already had a 500K bid accepted won't make a blind bit of difference.
If we bid 600K and Reading have a bid of 500K rejected but the player doesn't want to come to us cos he'd prefer to go to Reading, Guess what.... He'd still be on his way to Reading.
All we will do by your theory is pay over the odds for a player that already has a 500k pricetag. At the moment the reason why we or anybody else haven't signed him is because nobody has offered the money that Rangers want.

We have not often been let down by the club recently.... Remember deadline day January 2008 - a lot of moaning, then in came De Silva, Nyatanga, Warner (ok! he wasn't much good) etc. Last season, we obvious had a serious go for Phillips and it was all made transparent. The transfer market is an area, IMHO, where we have not lacked realistic ambition over the past few seasons, especially when you think of players like Muller etc. We will never be able to shop at Harrods, but we do seem to be very good at spotting bargains at Debenhams, along with the occasional dip back home via Primark and the pound shop. Credit the board and Davey - this is an area in which, for a club of our support size, we have been rigorous and creative over past seasons. If the club are saying that a proven Championship striker is on the way, I for one believe them. I also think that we have done a decent job in getting close to a deal for Adam. It's just that, if he does come, I can see Anderson going to Brizzle City. Still, some player-exchanges are good to freshen up the squad. I say - well done, Davey and the board - we're right behind you in the bids to bring in new players!
