They don't stand a cat in hells chance of being relegated, so shouldn't they have been docked next season?
I can only assume it was because they didn't try to avoid it with the whole parent company thing, and just accepted it. Dunno.
That's what I thought The ten points deduction is supposed to be a punishment and act as a deterent to other clubs from following the same path. At least, that was what the league said with regards to Southampton, so why is it different with Stockport?
That's correct according to the rules "In 2007, the rule was amended so that clubs going into administration after the fourth Thursday in March would have the 10-point deduction suspended, but only if they are in the relegation zone. If they are outside the relegation zone, then the points are taken off straight away, even if it means they then drop into the relegation zone" Can't help thinking that the rule needs to be changed somewhat. The points penalty has little or no effect on Stockport, apart from a reduction in prize money for finishing in a lower position. But anyway, good luck to them.

Because they are relegated anyway So, according to the rules, the 10 points are knocked off next season. Not saying the rule is a good rule, but that's my understanding of it
It only gets deducted next season if they were relegated anyway without the points deduction. It's the same principle as Southampton. If they had stayed up the points would have been deducted this season. In Southampton's case the deduction would have been enough to relegate them. In Stockport's case the deduction isn't enough to relegate them.
Simple solution Lose the next 10 points that the club wins, and allow that to roll over into the next season. So incentive for Stockport would be to win their final game so they get it down to minus 7 at start of next season. Similarly with Southampton. It's just ridiculous that 2 clubs going into admin at about the same time of season and 1 ends up being relatively unaffected by the points deduction.
If they don't agree a CVA they will get a deduction next season anyway. If a big chunk of debt is to HMRC, they are likely to object as they don't like the preferential status given to "football creditors".
Why not just start the next season with a 10pt reduction? Doesn't **** up the end of seasonorder that wayor change what they haveto play for.</p>
