We started pretty well - an admirable fight against the side that is undoubtedly going up as champions. Beat Wolves, drew Plymouth, Stoke and S'hampton.
But we're losing it. Decent performances but too many late mistakes and higher than average bad luck. Wednesday, Luton, and now Coventry - last minute disasters that only serve to push us inevitably towards the trapdoor, no matter how much the press think we might have been the better team.
And what does Nardiello have to do to get a start? This is the guy who sent us to the play off finals and then kept us in the reckoning on the big day. And yet he is lucky to get 20-30 minutes only when it's too late and despearation sets in, despite being the only player to look like he was about to get someting yesterday.
I don't understand it. Sometimes I don't think I ever will - but I often wonder why managers, when they see replays and listen to criticism, still seem to stick doggedly to beliefs that are just not delivering.

RE: Teams Have Found Us Out. We copied their style of long ball, instead of sticking with what we are good at, playing it on the deck. I never get excited when we get a corner, as I would be surprised if we scored more than 10 goals from a corner in the last 6 years. Other teams corners are nearer to the goal line, as they know we are a team of midgets by comparison to themselves, and have a goalkeeper who is no happy at corners.
Combination of confidence, tiredness and change of tactics we're not winning games, and the players are starting to have doubts. Devaney has stopped trying to run past the full back, Howard isnt getting into the box as often, and the strikers seem to have forgotten where the goal is. added to which, understandably the manager has asked them to be less gung ho and more defensively minded. and I'd say the majority of our starting 11 have played every league game, so are starting to flag. the most worrying thing for me is the difference in quality between our bench and any other in this league. aside from Nardiello, we have nothing whatsoever in reserve that can add anything to our first team of any note. perhaps Heckinbottom should start instead of Williams, but Wright, Healy, Austin et al are merely making up the numbers. I thought both sides cancelled each other out on Saturday, until they were able to make a change that made the difference. went into the ground thinking we need 2 full backs. left the ground thinking we need a striker and a centre half as well.
"understandably the manager has asked them to be less gung ho" At least we picked up the odd point or two then.
Great to watch but just as disappointing if we lose. I'd be happy with a few more points on the board and less flowing football if Im honest. survival is the only thing that counts. we'll lose most of our side if we go down.
Correct. Hayes, Howard, Reid, Hassell Colgan. Probably McIndoe and Nardiello too. If we go down, how much would be made avaialble for new players? Cos on the face of it we'd be left with Wroe Healy Wright and Jarman What a sobering thought. The question is how much is survival worth compared to what it costs?
Wasnt a figure of £1.5 million mentioned? might not make me popular, but I think Ritchie is as much to blame for not bringing people in. we can only loan players until Jan, and he's rejected one to my knowledge cos he didnt want to drop a player. 14 games in, I think we've given the players that got us promoted sufficient chance. I'd take anyone that is better than what we've got regardless of which position, since we have no real competition for places at the moment and we're looking jaded.
I'm in total agreement with you S.M Low on confidence, low on energy and low on numbers. Our squad is paper thin at best and we haven't had a spate of injuries yet.
God help us if and when that happens.
Oh sorry we have had injuries.
Kell and Healey who were both injured when we signed 'em.

RE: Wasnt a figure of £1.5 million mentioned? I'd agree that we're starting to look jaded. That opens up other questions as to what players are getting up to, but thats another matter. AR has tried to bring in at least 5 players and we have missed everyone of them. I hear that he was offered Shipperley but turned him down, as it his right as manager. I'm not sure about any others. I think that AR is willing to bring players in, but it don't seem to be happening, and I'm not sure why that it is. Is it wages, is it "selling" the club to players? Is it what people on the inside know that we don't? Can we afford to lose £1.5m?
but Gord would be clapping his hands thinking of the £££'s coming in We'l be 1 million in the black before we know it. The fact only 5K will be watching us suffer another relegation wont matter. we'l be in the black - but hang on a mo, all the sponsors have fecked off, we sat in the bottom 3 of lg1 and we getting hammered every week. Oh ****** - i forgot - were a football team, not a corner shop.
