Why I won't be going to the Chelsea match

I'm a non-season ticket holder who for financial reasons, couldn't afford a season ticket. I follow the Reds passionately, attending a few home games this season, but not as many as I've liked due to financial reasons (Buying a house and getting married aren't cheap things as some of you know!)

Now the club tells us the tickets are £25, I just don't see the point in going!

I'd rather spend my well-earned cash on the Sheffield Wednesday game, which isn't on tele, and watch the Chelsea match at home!

    What's everyone else think?

£25 is bizarre! I've never known tickets be that highly priced at Oakwell, is this a record?

It is the price you would have had to pay at Chelsea. Maybe they have something to do with pricing.

So for £2 more than you would have paid to watch Colchester

    ... you're not going?

Of course they do, Chelsea get their cut of the gate money remember. They will have had a big say in the price increase. Thats the way football works these days, money talks and anyone who is moaning about is being somewhat naive.

    they do

The FA cup rules on ticket prices are as follows.

    1. For the 6th round the minumum adult price allowed is £15.
    2. Both clubs have to agree a price to charge.
    3. If no agreement can be reached then the FA have the power to intervene.
    4. The away fans can be charged more than the home fans if both teams agree.

Given that the minumum as set by the FA is £15 and that our home price is normally above this but below chelsea's £25 I find it very hard to believe that the FA would order us to put our prices up, they would more than likely be happy with our price as it is above their own minumum.

    Don't look for complicated reasons

£25 and £15 concessions (easier with cash sales). 2 per ST holder then just general sale (don't have to think too hard or check anything). Done for ease of box office as that is their priority at all times.

I can see your thinking. If someone can only afford to go to one of the two matches, they should watch Chelsea for nothing on television at home and pay less to watch the Wendy game, which is the biggest of the two anyway.

    Oh my god.

    FFS get a grip man.

I bet you where one of the ones moaning about not getting a ticket for Anfield.

£1 more than Anfield. No money needed for a coach ticket. Later kick off and you will be home at about the same time as you would have been on Saturday. Or you could even stay out and go straight into town after the game.

I really don’t see a problem with paying £25 for a FA Cup Quarter Final match ticket against Chelsea. Are you really that tight that you are arguing over a massive £5?

OK, that's it. I'm going to have to stick up for DB3K.

He was responding to another post and clearly stated "If someone can only afford to go to one of the two matches . . ."

Wasn’t having a go at Dreamboy.

The first post that was a reply for.

Just that I have no idea how to respond to messages correctly.

I always find DB3K’s posts to be sensible most of the time and again he makes a good point.

Was just saying that if the game was away at Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford would such a fuss have been made?

    That's alright then

Personally I think he generally spouts even more b*****ks than me which is why I felt moved to support him on the one occasion I didn't think he was doing!

It's not the first time we have been asked to pay more for Cup football.

A lot of you are too young to remember. Prices always went up a bit in the 50s and 60s.

£25 is cheep to see such talented players as Steele, Hassell, Foster, Souza, Kosluk, Da Silva, Devaney, Howard, JCR, Leon, Ferenczi, Nardiello, Van Homet and KO. Hope I've not missed anyone. Oh, and the little matter of the £100M worth of horse meat Chelsea will be turning out.

    It's pathetic

I said earlier that the excuses are starting already - its essentially why many people on here are moaning about ticket allocations and prices.

You would think that all these people who couldn't get to the Liverpool game would have £50 burning a hole in their pockets wouldn't you?
