Why is £20 a game not enough?

In my opinion £20 is a fair and reasonable price for one person to watch a game of football. It also still incentivises the season pass as £20 per game paid on the day is £460 over the course of a full season, as opposed to the £14 odd stated on the OWS. I know the answer really, greed. But for god's sake somethings got to give, and I fear it will likely be the attendances.

I don't know that many people who would pay up to, or north of £30. It's just scandalous.

Because fans who don't have season tickets don't matter to the club.

Barnsley, like a lot of other football clubs, have little grasp on the realities of people's finances and don't mind ripping fans off. There will be a tipping point. It's cheaper to follow Arsenal away that come to Oakwell.

I really believe that £20 on match days would help catch more floating fans. These could then be converted into season ticket holders. Being a season ticket holder myself, I would not complain at such an initiative.

On the other hand, clubs like Wednesday, Newcastle etc will bring 6000 regardless so if we have the chance to make more out of them, we should. It's hard enough to compete in the Championship and need to help ourselves where we can, and on match days this is a chance. Not saying it's right but if other Championship clubs do it, why shouldn't we?

Charge them what they charge visiting teams. £20 for home fans.

Because I'd like to think we have morals. Fans of other clubs are humans too. Why are we deliberately ripping them off? And there's also the little problem that we are ripping our own fans off too in some petty game of revenge against other clubs we see the people of Barnsley as nothing but collateral damage

Because now we're a championship club were playing other clubs with monumental wealth. It's no longer 1 or 2 teams that are loaded, we're talking 10 now. To compete is going to be harder than ever before, especially when Villa have £100m+ in parachute payments.

Do we charge a sold out North stand with Villa/Newcastle (which they'll sell out regardless of price) £20 each, or £30? Its not 'morally' right, but the club is a business that has to make as much money as possible, which some people seem to forget. It's still cheaper than what Wednesday are charging and would mean us getting a ton of extra finance that we will need now more than ever.

£20 has never captured the 'floating fans' before now, so why would it make a difference now?
The back end of last season we were on fire, and still there was no huge increase in crowds.

The best way is get a season ticket, spread the cost over 12 months if needed. Even if you only go to around 11/12 home games you've still saved money.

There have been numerous attempts to increase supporters - in 2015 fans could buy mates £5 tickets against Coventry and Walsall; no real increase

Last season in the second half of the season crowds didn't increase significantly despite the great form and the later 'super 6' offer. The fact is that floating fans will remain just that regardless of price

    6000 x £35 = £210,000 per game

The club has based this no doubt on sheff weds, Leeds, Newcastle, villa, Derby

    3000 x £30 = £90,000

Based on wolves, Huddersfield, Rotherham, Birmingham, Preston, Forest, Blackburn

All a guess of course but you can see where the club are going, get a season ticket if at all possible!

    Alternatively
    Home fans
    500 x £35 = £17500
    6000 x £18 = £108000

    Away fans:
    6000 x £35 = £210,000
    6000 x £18 = £108,000

    Total
    £35 = £227,500
£18 = £216,000 +5500 extra potential programme sales, shirt sales, refreshment sales and potential repeat custom.

I'm with you and agree fully however, you are being quite generous that 6000 home fans will come at £18. It's been proven the only thing that brings home fans through the door at Oakwell is a winning team. Make it £10 a week and folk won't come because it's not £5.

As stated on a previous thread, we don't get 6,000 extra supporters.

When was the last time we had a sustained period of well priced tickets?

I go to watch Steelers ice hockey, £18 adult tickets, £12 students and £5 under 16's.

A couple of pints in the pub before the game so that I don't have to pay arena prices for a pint of flat carling, overall a sensible pricing structure that delivers champions hockey.

Maybe the problem is the daft wages that the players get paid.

The 'offers' don't work because they are usually one-offs and either not enough people know about them or they are too restrictive for many to make use of them. The 'offers' should stop and there should be a long term strategy instead, whether that be a Membership scheme, flexi tickets or a loyalty card.

I went to 3 prem games last year all under 30 quid including an Arsenal one. 30 quid to watch a 2nd division game is indefensible however you look at it and eventually if it becomes cheaper to go to Prem games we will suffer.
