He kept a clean sheet, did some fine stops and saved a penalty. I would have thought that was quite enough.
i think its because were it not for a magnificent block by kay we would have been one nil down and were it not for williams throwing himself at the ball on the line we would have conceded a goal rather than finishing the game with ten men.
Because people have already decided they don't like him and no matter what happens they won't change their mind. However if a player they like cocks up, well they deserve another chance and besides it was Colgan's fault.
It's a team game Kay also made an absolute blunder that somebody else bailed him out of. Lets hope the players aren't all pointing the finger at each other. According to Ritchie, Colgan has already "held his hands up" and said he should have got that ball, that should be good enough.
RE: it is good enough HE's as good as owt else we have - there is no reason for him to be dropped so end of story.
how is he as good as flinders? colgan made two mistakes against leeds. once he completely missed something he should comfortably have saved and before that he stayed glued to his line while a player came at him one on one. two mistakes = two goals. flinders played against hul and didnt put a foot wrong.
One thing Colgan did really well... Was communicate to the back four. Half the good defending was Colgan pointing out where the gaps were, when people had lost their player etc. That said, I remain to be convinced.
get a grip eastander! i no your entitled to your own opinion an all that, but can you honestly say he commands his box well, im not saying hes not a good shot stopper, but any decent keeper has to have a lot more to his game, fair enough if he makes a couple of mistakes, but if he keeps playing he'll cost us more goals that what scotty would
umbrage taken He's had his chances (plural) and he plainly isn't good enough. If he can't sort his confidence problem cos he knows the crowd have no faith in him, he wants to find another career. In his case, the corwd have been surprisingly patient. As it is, he's spent 10 years making 160 1st team games..says it all.
And comparing.. Kay missing his kick in a position where Dale Tonge was stood right behind him, to Colgan charging out like a madman and forgetting to pick up the ball as he slid, is hardly the same. He should stay in the side, but his performance was by no means faultless, and if he makes those mistakes every game, we will get punished. If Cureton hadn't been so pathetic, Kay wouldn't have had a chance at making the block.
