Why is our attendence up?

    Back in the 80s and early 90s when were in englands second divison we would get an average of approx 6,000 a game a oakwell. Now we are in the third divison, why do we get more? As the success of the premiership season had a lasting affect?

    I think you'll find..

    ..that prior to the miners strike in the late 70's and early 80's that our attendances were considerably higher peaking in 81 with home average of 18,000 close to newcastle & wednesday, greater than bolton, blackburn chelsea etc

    Largely during this period they were 12/13k

    pit closures in the 80's and early 90's hit a lot of families hard, mine included.. that affected attendences
