Why isn't the Media telling flight passengers that they can shop freely after security checks?

I am sure mothers with children on flight would appreciate knowing that they will be able to take on board comics, mags etc for their children to keep them amused once they have passed through all the security checks.
Not once has this been mentioned or discussed and they are still churning out the same old stuff and scaremongering everyone about long journeys with nothing to do.
I suppose it makes for better news, but just think how re-assured people would be if they knew that once through security they can buy their books, mags, walkmans, Cds etc etc

This is from the Manchester Airport Website.

    Passenger Information

Please be advised that all retail and catering facilities are operating normally. Be aware, however, that if you wish to buy anything before you go through security please do this BEFORE you check in, as all items will need to be placed into your bags to be checked in.

Once through security passengers to all destinations ( with the exception of the USA) can shop freely and take all products on board.

The only prohibited products for USA destinations are those with liquid content - this applies to perfume, alcohol, drinks, etc. Foe US destinations fragrance, wines and champagne may be purchased from Alpha Airports Shopping and collected on your return to Manchester Airport. All other non-liquid based products may be purchased as usual

    Like to over dramatise

Both on the BBC website and in USA today it specifically stated that you couldnt buy stuff to take on - sometime today the BAA website was updated with the info you posted. It certainly helps a bit - still not sure why you cant take a book through security though.

Personally more concerned about Laptops checking into hold is asking for trouble, and you cant take them on board. I left mine in Munich this weekend and back on an old one for now but cant do that usually and I need it to work

He's only a young un tho, last season when the likes of  JohnnyCoachman, Rufus and  "Jonathan"  were screaming for Ritchie to be sacked he was defending Ritchie and saying he shouldnt be sacked and it turns out he was right...
