People saying he will tarnish his reputation or he's not experienced enough is fair enough but on the other hand if he wants to come back and try keep us up I'd welcome him back! His reputation as a player and captain of our club can never be tarnished for me....if we go down at least with redders we know there will be passion and hardwork. I loved him as a player and I'm sure he's got a lot to offer as a manager and I'd be fully behind him!

You do know about his awful managerial record at Scarboro and Halifax?

Yeah a few years ago that though and look at the financial state both clubs were in they both went bust not long after so I don't think judging him on those two jobs is fair. He's done a bit of coaching since then as we'll and I'm sure he's learnt a lot from the managers he's worked with!

We need someone who can get hold of this team straight away and start winning matches. That man is not Neil Redfearn. His time might come one day, but not yet. He needs a few more miles under his belt first, a proper job at a proper club.

It depends on the options really. If its between Redders or someone else without experience managing an English second tier club (Flicker, Rosler, Mellon Man for instance), then I think I'd go for Redders. If, however, there is any chance of getting an experienced manager at this level (Megson, SOD, Brown) then that has to be the way to go. Oh I dunno! Bring back Keefy!! :-(

Fantastic player and captain for us, a true club legend but he doesn't have a good record as a manager and he has no experience at this level.

He's your hero, fair enough, but half the current squad have probably never heard of him and there is no basis at all for him to be appointed as manager.

Maybe a reds legend, but for me looking at his career records.

More of a journeyman footballer who spent a few years with us. Leeds fan from all accounts.

Some journeyman!!!! I would prefer somebody more experienced I just can't see why some people are so against redfearn coming in. I would like to see him as an assistant to a megson or phil brown type with a possibility of him taking over at some point!

His managerial records are hardly worth having.

But yeah a journeyman, how long was he with us, then deserted us when we went down. Look at how often he switched clubs.

Not having a go, not really old enough to remember him. Just can a legend be a bloke who was with us for that long and talks about Leeds more than us?

There really can't be any room for sentiment in the situation we are in, I'd be very worried if someone like Redfearn came in as the main man. We'd be relegated and probably fall straight through League One as well - sorry but that's my opinion

He didn't desert - he went to Charlton without really wanting to. Was poorly treated by the club, who wouldn't give him pay parity with the mainly foreign players signed for the premier league campaign. Which was a travesty as he was our best player by a country mile IMO. Certainly the most committed and most consistent.

And as for Leeds - he works for them, has done for the last four years. I think you are meant to talk about the club you work for. He's also from dewsbury so was likely a fan as a kid. Not a crime.

His best playing years without argument were with Barnsley Football Club.

So yes, he is a legend. No doubt. I'm not sure I've seen a better player for Barnsley - I started watching early to mid nineties - other than redders I'd say only hignett was close, not around for as long to judge consistency. I'll prepare for the battering....

But as much as I love redders, no no no as manager. Assistant manager or first team coach, yes. Can't see him leaving Leeds for owt other than the managers job though.

You could learn a thing or two from his book rather than rash statements saying he "deserted us" it's no surprise you were too young to remember him...

I'd rather have a dream team of willie ferry and dave Regis.

best players don't make the best coaches, so these two would be fantastic.

No its not that he isnt experienced enough - the experience he has shows that he isnt very good as a manager - and thats in lower leagues. Its not a gamble on someone inexperienced and hoping they will be good it would be taking a go on an experienced failure and hoping for a miracle. Great player and Barnsley Legend on the pitch but sadly not got the necessary skills to be a good manager
