Why not reduce the admission price for the remaining home games?

Maybe to £15 for adults and a similar reduction for kids, we really need the crowd behind the team and the stadium more full for the run in. Leeds recently reduced a home fixture to £15 and attracted 29,000 a big increase on their usual attendance and Donny Rovers are offering their supporters a deal where if they buy tickets for all of the final five home games they get one game free as they push for the play-offs.

I, as a season ticket holder don't mind the reduction in price if the attendances are increased and more people are getting behind the team. A lot of "stayaway" fans say they don't watch many games due to the ticket prices so there's no excuse for these supporters not to get down to Oakwell for the remainder of the season.

    I mentioned similar before

An offer that if you buy tickets for 2 games you get a 3rd game free.

I think our marketing department is falling behind times

Although l dislike DRFC since moving to their new stadium they have advertising for their home games on screens in their shopping centres and various adverts for next seasons season tickets, posters are found in town centre pubs for forthcoming home fixtures with admission prices and they're offering discounts etc. Working in Wakefield the Wildcats have big adverts all over the city advertising their rugby fixtures, what do we have?? back page of the Chron? Time we looked at our marketing department and try and attract more supporters to Oakwell. Granted if the team were doing well it would encourage more people!

Our board dont do that "something for free" concept.

I bought my season ticket in the ponty two years ago, before that was in the east stand. I renewed my ticket but wanted to change it to the ponty because my mates werent going anymore and I could sit with my brothers. They wanted to charge me the east-stand price for a ponty ticket, (60 pound difference). Got it back in the end, but thats how they think.

If it was me, i would have give back the 60 pound, which I would spend at the club in away games, shirts etc, but not Barnsley FC. They dont think outside the box.

How can they justify charging you East Stand price for a Ponty ticket?

Because id paid for it in full and it was the week before the start of the season. They said they could change seat but would have to charge full whack. argued the toss, been coming for years etc and got money back. What bugs me about it is that narrow minded way they run it. To the club, Marketing is just making people aware of what they could spend their money on. And they dont care about customers, they rarely put on promotions like mentioned above, and even when they had that kids day a few weeks back, it was sponsored by Wickes so they probably made up the shortfall.

Its pathetic the way our club is run, its like a corner shop.

    Those kid days are pointless...

They pick games against sides kids don't want to see. Obviously they the games against such teams because they are expecting low crowds but when l asked my mate why is kid weren't bothered about coming on the most recent kids day he replied that his lad had said "Not bothered about watching them against Colchester and teams like that". Why not do these days against bigger teams? e.g Birmingham, West Brom and Sunderland? teams kids want to see where there's an atmosphere not dull games against smaller clubs. Even against the bigger teams the home ends are still 3-5 thousand off being sold out so there would be room. Be interesting to hear what the crowd is tomorrow with 7,700 Mackems, l reckon 18,000-19,000

RE: Those kid days are pointless...

Because the only reason they put them on is to get more people in to the worst games. Its not about getting kids interested, if it was they would do it every week. It all comes down to numbers.

Why not let kids under 10 in free every week? its not like we ant got enough seats and if a few less mackems or wensdi fans cant come then so be it for me.

All they are bothered about is money.

I dont agree, its how i started coming to games my first game was a "quid a kid" game against Port Vale and i got the bug from that so to say its pointless isnt true.

    The point is

Why not quid a kid every week? why cant a barnsley fan bring his/her children at a discounted rate. Attracting more families might actually generate more revenue as mams and dads would pay full, there is also programme sales, food and drink etc.

But no, GS cant see past the end of his nose, unfortunately.

How many did those days put on the gate?

Not very many v Colchester, more kids would watch "better" games.

My point is its not about getting kids interested, its about filling empty seats,

Why not put this thread or a link to it in the BFC Suggestions in the sticky at the top of the page, or even contact the club.

Totally agree. There are loads of empty seats, try filling a few.

Under 10's free or a quid every game.
