Why the sudden need for midfielders?

    Granted McCann was already with us, but surely our need is defenders more than anything right now?</p>

    McCann, Howard, Togwell, Devaney, Wroe, Tonge, K Reid and P Reid can all play in midfield. Oh, and Robbie Williams.</p>

    I can see the need for strength in depth, but its defenders we need firstly, followed by strikers and then midfielders.</p>
