Yes another thread of someones opinions but here goes.

We started pre-season with one of the weakest squads in the league and pretty much the least amount of money. Any neutral would have had as relegation certs and so did I if I was honest.

So taking that team and spending basically no money we've spent most of the season at a really comfortable position in the league. Keith and Flicker has developed one of our own into someone that will bring in potentially £2m in the summer (and let's be honest no one at the end of last season thought Jacob would be worth that) and taken Vaz Te on a free from nowhere and sold him on for £1/2m. I'd also say that Davies has been a really decent signing, scoring 11 so far.

We've on occassion got the ball down and played some good stuff and had some really good wins, especially over Leeds :)

Yes the last 2 months have been not good (and the first month was poor), but I think if we were all honest about the situation the club is in financially then I think we'd have all taken the positioin we are in now at the beginning of the season.

I for one hope Keith stays and doesn't decide to do a runner like Robins (but who would blame him if he did), he's doing as good a job as I think anyone can truly expect considering the resources at his disposal.

Until the other clubs in the Championship start spending within their means I think achieving what we are now is atually really good. I suspect next year we might not even need this number of points to survive as I think there will be others with large cash flow issues.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion which you articulate very well. Just a thought though - do you think Robins might now regret 'doing a runner' given he's still unemployed (as a manager at least)? And where do you think Keith would do a runner to?

He may well regret running yes, but none the less he did run. As for Keith I just got the feeling from his words after the Blackpool game that he really is getting fed up with it all and not just 'having a whine'...

OK. But I find it strange that anyone should think there is a genuine risk of him doing a runner. To be honest (and as he has said himself), if he was at most clubs getting the sack would be a far more likely scenario given the run we've had since January. If he does leave voluntarily, but not for another job, then I think it possible he might find himself in a similar position to Robins. With the added danger that prospective employers might view some of his open criticism of his current employing club in a none too favourable light. Having said that, he is clearly not enjoying himself at the moment (given his latest interview(s)) so perhaps a career change might be a more likely outcome anyway.

you make some good points but think your title would be better why this season hasn't been as bad as you think!

Look at bookies odds for relegation again next season that will tell you the size of the task ahead even Peterboro have a larger budget survival is a valid objective at the moment.

We didn't get £2m for Vaz Te, or even £1m. We got our pants pulled down.

And that £500k is the posters guess, I'll take Keefs words about the price we got for Vaz Te, basically ****. 18 goals in 22 starts, imagine if he had played the full season? 25 goals plus. Wonder how much WHUFC would get if they failed with promotion and flogged him in the summer?

Sorry dragon I bow to your logical and reasoned counter argument.
