Is this an obvious one which no one has picked up on
Is the new manager a player/manager - hence the wait for the transfer window to open
Or someone who is currently employed at another club and cannot move until transfer window opens
That would account for the wait
It would also count out all potential managers such as -
    Davey
    Blackwell
    Worthington
    etc etc etc

It would count them out but thats 3 of the 5 on the short list so to be fair that is probably wide of the mark!
But people speculating that GS has a hand in team selections it would suggest he does saying they have come up with a list of targets. We should of got a manage lined up long ago as he would of had chance to asses who he wants to keep and who he doesnt maxamising the transfer window instead we are going to be knackered inless Davey is appointed on a full time basis!

I reckon it could be Davey because

he will do what GS says. If he doesn't like these signings Shepherd has got lined up then it's tough /poo. In fact he won't be able to disagree with anything much because unlike Worthington etc. we have not gone after him and sold the club to him and begged him to come, he has got the job by default and it is him who will be grateful to the club, as opposed to the other way around.

Yes totally agree. Davey will take the crap especially with it been his first managerial job. If we go down i believe it will be down to GS.

Or someone waiting for the outcome of legal action against his former employers?

That's the answer right there. Until Certain people resolve legal issues, no announcement will be made by Barnsley. Davey and Kidd will be given jobs within the club and all will be right until the 1st defeat when everyone slags off the new manager, any new players, the old manager, the old players, the caretaker manager and any loan signings who failed to score in excess of 2.7 goals a game, even iff htey were defensive!!!
