Think we ran out.....

got to wait for last season's team to get old, would'nt mind seeing a few of my old heros though David Currie Owen Archdeacon Paul Futcher think there's plenty to go at.

Wasn't Paul Futcher at the Cardiff game? Wasn't he measuring the crowd noise for Coca-Cola? Thought they would have made more of it , brought him out atj half time. Futcher was probably the coolest player evr to grace a pitch at Oakwell. Scored the best own goal I can ever rememebr when he lobbed Baker( not har I know ) from about 30 yards!

Ah yes , remember that day. I remember being grabbed by an everton fan walking down Harbour hills. He was a lad a knew from uni and he was being chased by some barnsley fans. He said whe should run until I showed him my barnsley scarf - swore and ran even faster![IMG]

    that was v west brom

and we still ran out winners that game! Remember it well. Did we score 5 that day???

Futcher - i always remember him for 2 things:

    1. never wanting to kick the ball out of touch
    2. almost snapping the crossbar v everton in the fa cup from almost the half way line. That would still be on tv now if it had gone in.

    Classic OG

That was a classic, it was against West Brom if memory serves me well. He never scored at the right end in all his time at Oakwell, probably the closest he came was a long range shot against Everton in the FA cup which Southall made a fantastic save to keep out. He would certainly be in my Barnsley Best Eleven.

Thought we we 2 - 0 up at the time and cruising

and that pulled it back to 2 - 1. Seem to remember the final score being 3 - 1 and Futch making a mock gesture of relief to the crowd when we scored the third. Then again it was a long time ago!

I remember first seeing him playing for England U23's

back in about 1977, everyone thought he was the man to replace Bobby Moore. Might have been too if it wasn't for the tendency to throw in the odd howler. Class.

    RE: v Everton

From memory it was a great save from southall, tipped it over when it looked all on a goal.
Another memory from that game is Graham Sharp sticking the middle finger up after he scored in front of the ponty, w@nker.

Seem to remember being stood on a milk crate for that game, classic.
