Seems, that some people are happy with 4th bottom, given Davey's policy of "buy every lottery ticket and I'll win the lottery" recruitment policy they will point to his good signings and gloss over the dross.
However, let me say this; Without Southampton committing Financial Hara-kiri we would have finished 3rd bottom and now be relegated. The fact that they had to loan out pretty much their entire first team to pay their bills has meant they were doomed. Cryne should be asking Davey why Swansea, a team we beat to get into this division have progressed beyond us without seeming to spend much money. What about the likes of Burnley, Bristol City, Doncaster, Blackpool, Coventry? None of these teams have spent fortunes.
No excuses, Davey got lucky this season that Southampton were there to dig him out of the mire.

We finished above Plymouth as well and Southampton haven't been deducted any points this season. Other than that a pretty reasoned arguement (seestars)

I think he means the fact that Soton have had to move out their better players to survive has helped us

not really southampton have a squad of 32 players and have 7 players out on loan, they have excellent facilities and an av attendance of 18,000, I don't see how them having a points deduction saved us? we would have sent plymouth down anyway

well thats fair enough, I'm not defending Davey I'd just rather people be a little more positive that we're still in this division, he is isn't a great manager we all know that, but there a lot worse and a lot who could very easily take us down if we're not careful, step forward alan pardew, glen roeder and colin calderwood
