The fans are the factor that will decide if we stay up , when your club is struggling they are the ones who the players respond to. Our players will be scared to hold on to the ball at Oakwell for fear of making a mistake .The crowd at Oakwell are probably the worse home fans i have witnessed in the football league they show very little passion and the best the ponty can string together is some foul mouthed chant with the occasional racist sprinkling. Think back to the last time we went down and tha appalling abuse several of our home grown players recieved and compare that to the others in trouble. Leeds and southend fans have stuck with their team and now they are collecting points the fans will get behind them. Hull will bring 3/4000 tuesday and outsing our lot hands down. We will end up going down and next season the old diehards will return and the 3/4000 glory hunters will go away for another 2/3 years. Windy keep posting pics of corner shops because that is the size of this club old boy. True Fan base is 5/6000.
PS why did chopra not come back ?? i remember the ponty end boo ing him after he scored v donny and we were 1-3 down. Yet people on here slate the chairman for not signing him ! Did you think he would come be back after that type of abuse ?? NOPE.
Because......... we didn't go in for him. That is why Chopra didn't sign and it's old news. Why do people have to bring up him all the time ? Did you really have to bump ya thread instead of waiting for a reply first.
Leeds fans have stuck with them? Their crowds are well down on last year - they had an average crowd of 30,000+ in the prem . They are struggling along at under 20,000 at the moment. Mates a leeds season ticet holder and they are beginning to turn on the team.

I have to admit though our crowd is poor at home and do spend a lot od time on the players backs.

sorry Glyn but I was at the Cardiff game when 5-6 thousand stayed behind after us being beaten. At hillsbro, last minute sickener, fans stay behind and cheer the team off. Quality of the football and off field matters has killed the spirit. You know me and I'd like to think you would consider me a 'die hard', but not any more.
You are off coursecorrect in your assessment of the treatment of home grown talenteg Eaden

RE: Because......... people on here ask why we did not sign him , i thought the truth should be posted d/boy3k and yes we tried but he did not want to enter into talks wonder why ?? strange the ponty bo oing our player after he scored dont you think ?? people have not replied to my original post d/boy because its true and they cant come back at me. What do you think ?
Chopper was booed, as he had been utter **** in the games he had played for the club.
Yet in a bizarre twist the quality of his performances went up after the fans expressed their dissatisfaction at how he had been performing.
Strange innit!

RE: Because......... Money is the reason Chopra went to Cardiff and percieved ambition.
Booing would not have been helpful though.

Thing is... Barnsley fans are amongst the most fickle in the league. I profess to being the same. This is because we all want to get our money's worth when we pay to watch the reds, after all, it's meant to be entertainment, and the poor footy being served up at the mo is the reason we are not getting our moneys worth, hence the negativity. I think the folk of barnsley would be more contented if the team actually looked like they were trying to stay in this division each time they put their boots on, win, lose or draw. The tripe being served up at the mo just is'nt good enough, period! Trouble is, this is'nt likely to change in the near future with this prize pillock managing the show! (N)
Dave i drove 450 miles round trip to hboro and felt sick at the end but after 39.5 yrs of watching its all part of the clubs history . Good day out bad end , but i drove home looking forward to next match & 450 mile trip. Ernie strawbridge in goal next match dave , im sure ive seen him selling flowers on barnsley market.
RE: Because......... ( Did you really have to bump ya thread instead of waiting for a reply first.) Not like you'd ever 'dream' of doing anything likewise eh' Give the man a reasoned responce then....
Leeds fans sticking with them? What a load of twaddle! They regularly get less than 20,000 and thats including away fans.
er...... no, actually db For once, mrx is (almost) right on the money.
The treatment from the fans was a significant factor in him "never" wanting to return to Oakwell. Main reason money - wanted bigger club or Newcastle to treat him with a bit more respect.

RE: Leeds fans sticking with them? the fans that attend home and away (and i would guess they get the best or one of the best away followings in the league ) will stick with them .
Chopra Said.......... in the Barnsley Chornicle that he wanted to come back but was never even approached. Plus many times Ritchie said he didn't want him, thus backed up the player. It had nothing to do with his treatment as when he left he had been adored for a long time.
RE: Chopra Said.......... I don't doubt that he was never approached!! Equally, he'd never have come! I can firmly assure you that the knee-jerk reactions of Barnsley fans, not just to him, was a significant factor in him not wanting to return. That said, the fans could have kissed his feet after every game and he STILL wouldn't have come. Knew we couldn't cough up the sort of money/contract he wanted. Sorry, db, but they're the facts mate.

go on then... i'll agree wi'thi Only the leeds comments with low crowds has more to do with the fact that there ST prices went through the roof, and many did not renew out of protest. But our fans need to get behind em or we are down. Simple
