Why we should stop bemoaning the "loss" of Chops and McPhail

Firstly - Chopra wasn't ours to lose. Yes he may have been happy to come here, but if he doesn't then he will have made his choice, for whatever reason, and as such he is out of the question. Chops was a good striker for us, and a team needs a good striker. But a striker on his own is not a team. Although he was good two seasons ago we still didn't achieve promotion and the side hasn't changed that much since his departure.

McPhail - excellent at times, particularly recently, but as many have pointed out, had his weaknesses too. If he can't commit, then he's better away. That's football.

Both the management and the powers that be within BFC have worked extremely hard against unattractive odds to pull the club out of the fire. The latest and biggest achievement is undoubtedly promotion to the Championship. As we all know promotion is infinitely harder to achieve than relegation - and after the undoubtedly expensive outlay of all that, I believe that no one at the club will let go of new found success lightly.

We are all hanging onto what we see as a dream combination, that of a talented midfielder and a past and proven striker.

But they aren't the be all and end all. There are others out there that can be just as good, will fit better with our budget, have the talent to ensure survival, and most importantly not drag us back into the financial mire that has destroyed some and will undoubtedly threaten others.

This is close season, not open season. Our job will be to back whatever decisions are made. Let those that have successfully guided us to new heights get on with the job.

    Agreed

I'm disappointed if we don't get Chopra, but I'm sure we'll sign some good players.

Just give the board and management a chance. Who knows, people may already be lined up.

How do we know there is sluggish inactivity?

No announcement doesn't necessarily mean that nothing is going on.

Sometimes cloak and dagger is a better way to operate than to raise false expectation and create disappointment.

So you want them to announce to the media who they have targetted and let every other club know?

    Makes sense (NOT)..

    Please...

    shut up. Just, please.

You've no idea who the club are trying to sign - I don't think they've ever said they're after a Hartlepool reject or a Crewe defender, have they?

So how about you be quiet, and you wait and see what happens? Unless that 500 mile round trip every other week has warped your brain in some way.

Only when listening to Tom Tom.

Hopefully the new Hillman Imp is out in September, so we may not be relying on the Black Beast so much next year.
